Australia Socceroos beat Bahrain in World Cup qualifier 8) THE Socceroos escaped with a barely deserved 1-0 win this morning in Bahrain after a World Cup qualifying display to embarrass all concerned. Against an apparently weakened and vulnerable Bahrain, Australia played without structure, intelligence or style and a goal in injury time from Mark Bresciano was grand larceny in stealing the points.

From the off there was a lack of belief that suffused the entire team. Pim Verbeek has some harsh questions to ask of his highly paid stars, even allowing for Bresciano's goal which came when he chased down a loose clearance with 92 minutes on the clock and smashed the ball home 8) .

man of war ( ha ha ha when was the last time england won a war by themselves - yes the poor argies - world power that they are)... england won the world cup in 56 havent been close since, and the olympics , well that was "great britain" half your medals were won by scots and welsh, we actually flogeed england in the medals... and we beat you in football, in england, and we all hope we draw you in the world cup because we will beat you again... now take your warm beer and bugger off back to blighty you whining lover.

In 1935 The Dragon Slayers as they were known defeated Canterbury bulldogs 91-6, which is still the biggest win in the Club's History. In 1907, the St George district had a club in the Sydney rugby union competition. Interestingly, the team's area was referred to as the 'Illawarra suburbs'. A resolution to form a St George rugby league club was made at a local meeting held in early 1908, but the movement faltered and collapsed. St George, wearing the district colours of red and white, played in the NSWRL's Third Grade competition in 1910, and formed a President's Cup team in 1911. References were found at the time to district teams being called 'The Saints'.the perfect 11

You might want to start by getting some of your facts right, the decision on the hosts of the 2018 & 2022 World Cups will be taken in June 2011. 2018 will almost certinly be held in Europe, with Australia being favoured by many at FIFA to host it in 2022.

FIFA has confirmed today that both the 2018 & 2022 WC's will be awarded at their congress in December 2010.

Quote:At its meeting in Tokyo on 19 and 20 December, the Executive Committee confirmed that FIFA will open a simultaneous bidding process for two World Cup tournaments. Interested Associations will be invited to submit applications for either the 2018 FIFA World Cupâ„¢, the 2022 FIFA World Cupâ„¢, or for both tournaments. For 2018, four of the six Confederations will be eligible to host the tournament. CAF and CONMEBOL are not eligible at they will host the FIFA World Cups 2010 and 2014.

Bid Registration forms will be sent to all Associations in January 2009, and the FIFA Executive Committee will appoint the two hosts at the climax of the bidding procedure in December 2010

Wembley - 90,000
Emirates - 60,000
Old Trafford - 76,000

That matches the 3 60k plus stadiums that Germany had.

Stanley Park - 60,000
St James Park - 55.000
Stadium Of Light - 49,000
Villa Park - 42,000

That's 7 of your 12. The following stadiums wouldn't need a massive amount of rebuilding....

Riverside - Currently 35,000
Britannia Stadium - Currently 28,000
St Mary's - Currently 32,000
Bramall Lane - Currently 33,500

Then you have your loop hole stadiums....

COM - 48,000 (Available if OT can be classed as Salford)
Everton's new stadium (If in Kirkby))

Then the potentials.....

Don Valley - Currently 25,000 but with a hell of a lot of room for expansion)
Elland Road - Currently 40,000 but in need of modernisation
Millennium Stadium - 80,000 (not sure if this would be allowed)
Any of the 3 Glasgow stadiums (Again not sure if this would be allowed
Croke Park (Same as).

That's 11 stadiums in this country without a massive amount of upheaval.

KC Stadium is half decent for a lesser match.

Maybe the German clubs got around it because of the fact their grounds are bigger when they turn their seating into terracing? Also, maybe the rules were changed after they were given the WC?

Why the accusations earlier on in the thread that it would `kick-off` if held in England -from what I recall of our last international tournment hosting - EURO 96 - it was a great festive atmosphere with little sign of trouble anywhere ?
