In Australia Schools they are taught to be the best and being nothing but the best will do. In England its the taking part that counts and its ok to lose aslong as you've tried.
The player's who took the field today could'nt even catch a ball ,pass properly ,put a decent kick in or even tackle , All fundamental parts of basic Rugby what you get taught in schools and Academy's. That's not even going down the road of mentality and technique.
If any change come's from this debarcle then it needs to be aimed at the youngsters and the way we are coaching them .

However I cant put all of the fault on the players who didnt perform well enough. Eddie and Stevo cream over any potential England player during the Super League season, and they make them out to be 'world class' which in turn lights the expectations of us, the English fans.
In fact, we were battered around the park by much better players from Australia and New Zealand and a lot of fans are dissapointed.
Eddie and Stevo, as the numpties that they are made out that our players were 'world class' and 'larger then life' and the truth hurts!
We are crap, but we just never realised it until the World Cup actually took place!
So it was Stevo and Eddie's fault England played awful during the World Cup? Players picked on reputation is half the issue. I mean Ade Gardner, he's rubbish without Gidley laying tries on a plate for him...

You are talking about superstars on 2-3 thousand quid a week, and they can't do the basics.Well the so called superstars have been found out and i hope the clubs have the sense to realise this when their contracts are up for review.Let them get paid a contract commensurate with their world standing which to me is on a par with P.N.G.If they don't like it they can't all go to other super league clubs and the Aussie league certainly won't have them.Lets start paying players on performance instead of throwing money at average players. Its funny how some of the players who seem to have a high opinion of themselves have been well and truly found out ie.,Wilkins(alright showing the BBC the contents of his fridge),Wellens,Pryce,Gardner(bet he wished he had stayed at home)Sinfield and on and on.Let me hear one more so called pundit say we are not far off and i will scream.Fourty years ago we could beat the Aussies and most of our players were'nt pampered like this bunch, they had physical jobs to feed their families, besides playing.Give it a fortnight let the dust settle and we will just go back to our same old ways.Oh for someone to come in and sort it out from the bottom to the top. While ever we get Stevo and Eddie telling us we are watching superstars in superleague the players believe they really are superstars. And on a final note, reading the Aussie press they say that agents and coach's are at all of the games trying to sign players, strange the Aussie's are not interested in our superstars.

Wrong, our obsession with constantly looking for excuses is to blame. Quality O/S players will enhance the game, as long as our national coach as the guts to pick the better players and not just the ones who play for select clubs.

Quality being the operative word, but just wait while next season and see how many more end of career Aussies we get in superleague.
