gallop saying there would be no townsville or canberra without news ltd is BS.

those clubs were fine before news ltd inflated player wages.

the sooner the game returns to the ARL the better. they (well the NSWRL which they took over from) created it, nurtured it and expanded it succesfully.

the game needs to be run by people whose only interest is to see the game expand and succeed

Problem is we don't have a rep organisation capable of running RL at this point in time! The ARL are just as incompetent as News! Maybe we should head hunt Lewis to set up a new indpendent governing body?

WEST COAST PIRATES

the ARL / NSWRL created the best rugby competition of either code on the planet.

over 90 odd years they turned a competition based on the inner suburbs of sydney into one that stretched from perth to auckland, and canberra up to north queensland.

the ARL have now run a fantastic RLWC.

its their game

Maybe Gallop was referring to the fact that as the NRL have owned, part-owned or bankrolled various clubs since the introduction of the comp that they would not be around if it were not for their News Ltd Masters.

of course he is.

the point i made was has news ltd not started the SL war there was no need for that ownership.

the caused player salaries to quadruple or more, and saw clubs like canberra spending $9 million on players. they then covered the losses at those clubs whilst the loyal ARL clubs had in some cases to fend for themselves.

news ltd did not do the clubs favours.

Don't worry. I am aware of what the Nasty Rupert's League have done and am not a huge "News" fan myself.

I just on a North Sydney forum, that on 2KY yesterday, David Gallop said that they delayed the bid for 1 year so that the titans would be guaranteed funding for the stadium to built by the queensland government.

What do you think other bidders for the 16th spot would make of that comment?

in hindsight, the decision to bring in the titans over central coast and wellington was a fantastic choice so anything gallop did to further that gets the tick from me.

the future of the nrl is more queensland clubs given their population growth.

but i desperately want to see norths on the central coast playing a couple of games a year at north sydney oval.

I'll ignore your first paragraph

Why are you so desperate about Norths? Were they your second club after the Tiges or something?

Don't forget NSO is not fit to play first grade rugby league on according to the "criteria" to get into NRL. Though there was a travesty a few years ago when Manly (of all people) played Souths there in the NRL. Go figure.

1. norths are a foundation club. they really got shafted by the nrl when they were basically promised a spot for moving to gosford then got kicked out. when souths got back in it gave the game a shot in the arm - ditto for norths.

2. gallop above says weve lost the north shore to RL. time to get it back

3. we are going to get a team in gosford anyway, why not them and get back some fans on the north shore as well. NSO is still a nice ground, and one or two games a year for the old norths fans would be nice.

like the dogs are looking at playing a couple of games at belmore, though its a dump

4. norths could also offer their Leagues Club behind the bid, plus there is the Leagues Club at Gosford as well which is near the ground. it makes sense geographically as gosford and the north shore are close together, it would leave manly surrounded though

if the bears come back into the central coast, ill be so happy. foundation clubs are special, f**k murdoch, hes got no right to take away clubs like norths

winning like never before. decoys. mouse traps. chicken wings. lollie pops. shepperds. the crusher. grapples. big league. In 1935 The Dragon Slayers as they were known defeated Canterbury bulldogs 91-6, which is still the biggest win in the Club's History. In 1907, the St George district had a club in the Sydney rugby union competition. Interestingly, the team's area was referred to as the 'Illawarra suburbs'. A resolution to form a St George rugby league club was made at a local meeting held in early 1908, but the movement faltered and collapsed. St George, wearing the district colours of red and white, played in the NSWRL's Third Grade competition in 1910, and formed a President's Cup team in 1911. References were found at the time to district teams being called 'The Saints'.the perfect 11
