The two stand out halfs in the competition (Burrow & Long) get to play behind dominant packs. When Rovers pack were on song Dobson produced some excellent performances, when his forwards were getting outplayed he was anonymous. This is the case with most halfs.
For more than half the season we only had 3 props. Not being able to rotate or rest then led to some very tired performances & we got outmuscled too often. I think this is partly why we could perform one week, but not back it up the next. It was noticable how the team (& Dobson) improved when Makali came back. Next term we will have an extra prop, as well as Newton & Walker returning & Webster fully fit, all players who give us a much greater physical edge.
Burrow & Long aside, I think Dobson is as good as any other half in the competition. Given a more dominant set of forwards to play behind & I think there's every chance he will prove it.

He is the only specialist scrum half in the city!
He had one really poor game against Saints which I assume most fans watched on SKY and base their opinions on. Apart from that and the derby at your place he has been good and very good in other games.
Really tried to stay out of this thread but I have now been drawn in lol

I also saw him in two other games Bradford away and Les Cats at home, wasnt impressed with either games. The Rovers fans I spaek to have siad that he had two great games Hull and Wigan at home the other times he was average or poor.
He would have been a decent signing for Hull for last season and next, but would hope for a better standard of player on the quota at SH for Hull in 2010 (But I have been waiting over 10 years for a decent SH though).

Fair enough but he did come into a squad half way through the season and we also had alot of our top players on the sidelines.
I am very happy to have Dobson at 7 for us and after seeing some glimpses of what he is capable of, I think it will be money well spent.

tbf a went to a few hkr games last season and what RP put is bang on, all credit to dobson he doesn't stop trying and does have some aspects of his game which need improving but on some occasions his pack was well beaten.
