Can't help feeling that if McNamara doesn't get it right in the first half of next year that the spectre of a certain world cup winning coach (fingers crossed) looking for a club to coach will be looming large.
Would you want Smith regardless of Macca's performance anyway?

i'd imagine its a defintite possiblity and if macca hasnt ironed out some of weaknesses in squad by the middle of the season then I'd imagine board will consider it and rightly so. However I think steve deserves at least till mid season before any decision is made and until then he should be supported.

McNamara could be headhunted, or he could get sick of the jibes and negativity, or we could have a poor year and he could fall on his sword. Can't see him going back to Leeds or Shudds, Saints won't be talking to any coaches next year, and so barring (maybe) Warrington or Hull, who would be in real competition with us if we went after him?
Warrington have covered all bases by only handing Jimmy a one year deal<how appropriate>
I'm sure that Smith would also love the job at the Bulls, but depending on the financial constraints at the Bulls, will Smith be tempted by Morans money?

The succinct quotes demonstrate that he knows what he's on about and is on the case.

Can't be bothered to chase up references on PAB, but wasn't there a view on there a little while ago that Lowes was just keeping the coaching seat warm until Smith became available?
Sorry for the double post elsewhere on here replying to similar topic but:

That would be good, but if McNamara can hack it i'd rather have him as he is younger and it would be better to have him for a long time. If by the middle of next season we are still under achieving then we should look into it.
