Donna,

couple of points that hopefully help.

1. I think the Football Foundation gave grant help to the JJB Stadium. The FF is partly funded by Sport England and Central Government so should therefore come under the Freedom of Information Act.

2. Ask the Council to send you electronic copies of everything rather than hard copy, even if it means they have to scan old documents. that way you don't have to plough through loads of info yourself and can spread the workload a bit. Happy to read through anything.

I am not at liberty to divulge that information.

This post will self-destruct in 5 seconds.

I sent an email to Brian Simpson Wigan's Euro Mp
Earlier today asking nearly the same questions
Whose land was it built on [i am led to believe its Council Property]
Was the Planning application for joint usage.
How was the JJB funded ie,Council ,Lottery,EEC,Sports Council etc or Whelan Himself .No doubt it will take time to get back to me as it will have to be researched.
Brian Simpson came out publicly to decry Whelan in the press and on the radio. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyleague/2778310/Dave-Whelan-treating-Wigan-Warriors-supporters-like-second-class-citizens---Rugby-League.html

He has also stated that he has had a lot of hate mail from Latics fans but none from Wigan Warriors fans
email to thank him briansimpson.labour@virgin.net

I should think he has had a load of hate mail. He's supposed to represent the whole community, not just those with odd-shaped balls. Good luck with your legal research, chaps. Doubtless you'll ignore all this football trust grant money next time you claim it's a rugby stadium.

Who is claiming its a rugby stadium it was built with dual purpose in mind football and rugby .We all know what Dave Whelan prefers he has bankrolled the Latics writing off all your debts .
