Yep, Bower is the better footballer, but I think Clarke is perfectly suited to the game we are playing at the moment, we seem happy to let the other team have the ball once we are in front, and he's a strong player who'll win most of his challenges.
I really don't know what to make of Mark Bower's career - he actually looked competent up in the Championship a few years back, but manages to look worse every time we have dropped a level - maybe he is just not suited to the more direct and physical approach in the lower levels.
Just seen the Thorne goal on SKY, him against 2 defenders just into their half, not much pace to work with, but a drop of the shoulder and a cracking finish, different class.
Very happy with the win this afternoon, last week was a test passed after we bounced back from a defeat and this week was a test passed as we showed we could mix it up a bit, and turn it around against a team who were happy to get numbers back to frustrate us, and try and nick one on the break (as they did successfully).
They couldn't handle Colbeck and Daley in the second half when they dropped deep, or came inside and had the ball played into feet allowing them to run with it, I think all 4 goals came that way, I thought Colbeck should have got MOTM ahead of Daley though, I've not been his biggest fan but he was superb in the second half this afternoon.
Big game brewing in a fortnight away to Shrewsbury, I'd have thought Grant Holt might have managed more than just a penalty in a 7-0 win though? Thorne 8 Holt 3 I believe it is now!

Interesting to note that Shrewsbury got 7 and Holt only got 1
Thorne 8 Holt 3
Indeed Thorne has pulled away from Holts in the golascoring stakes, obviously better for Asim in the context of our bet.
But practically I would rather be in our position wherby we score 7 and have 6 different scores instead of relying mostly on 1 scorer (I know Boulding got 2 today). Best hope he doesnt get injured.

What, 4th? Nah, give me top spot anyday of the week
Seriously though I do have some concerns about an apparent over reliance on Thorne, that's why I'm particularly happy that Boulding is starting to look like a big threat too.
Could be a cracker in a fortnight the way things are shaping up.

Yes, but you may be forgetting that Boulding didn't have a pre-season, or much of one due to being injured. He certainly is starting to look more sharp and he's got 2 goals yesterday to really get his confidence flowing.
As for the game, well, the first half didn't look much craic, but the 2nd half performance was exceptional. The wingers ripped the Exeter full-backs to shreds.
