Saints stadium good to go

Great news for them. Can't help wondering what was so different about the old Sterling Capitol plan that meant that had to be called in for an inquiry while this hasn't.

Again, glad for Saints but left wondering why it wasn't possible for us six years ago.

Bradford gave us Hockney, Leeds gave us Moyles.

The whole site was proposed to be re-developed by a leading supermarket chain, putting in more retail outlets, but the Bradford Council scuppered this under their "town centre shopping policy" (that worked well over the last few years eh????)

As much as I think all Tories should be shot at birth, apparently the new momentum is led by a senior councillor who has booted Hawksworth aside to make it happen. I'm sure it's nothing to do with his ambition to take on the rather wonderful Ann Cryer in Keighley at the next election, or p1ss on Gerry Sutcliffe's damascus chips. Gerry wont let Horsfall go. Richard Dunne's will have go to make the sums stack up, though I don't know the extent of its replacement. A new supermarket wasn't mentioned, but that's the last thing anywhere needs.

Supermarket was in the old one, FWIW, i think Tesco would quite happily build a brand new store, a lot of the things they want to put in Buttershaw they can't due to lack of space.
Maybe Sutcliffe should ask the people of South Bradford what they want? A lot of people when speaking to them would be happy to have a new pool, athletics etc as long as it is available like it is now to everyone. Richard Dunne's won't last much longer with or without Odsal redevelopment its falling a part by all accounts.

and yet still the Council approved the Tesco plans originally !!

Hopkins replaced Eaton not Hawksworth and Hawksworth is still on the Executive ( environment I think ).

If Hopkins thinks that getting the OSV through will help him win the Keighley seat then I'd ask AJ and the rest of Keighley townsfolk what they think

Oh and according to the latest report I don't think Horsfall is part of package anymore.

The out of town development elements of national planning policy changed not too long after I believe. It was the Tesco EXTRA store that scuppered it in the first place.
