Di Matteo to take over at MK Dons.

Could be a major gamble IMO.

At Crewe we've had one or two changes...

Keepers Owain fon Williams and Ben Williams have gone, the latter joining Carlisle. It is expected that a tribunal will have to set a fee for Owain when he sorts himself out.
New keepers are Steve Collis (Southend) and Adam Legzdins (Birmingham).

Other new recruits are Joel Grant (Aldershot) and Calvin Zola (Tranmere).

A handful of lads from the academy have been issued pro papers and step up to the squad. A couple of them looked pretty good at academy level so we'll have to see how they step up.

Apparently Eddie Johnson turned up at Dario's house begging for a 'third chance'

Given that I am an overly optimistic sort of chap I predict that we will finish the forthcoming season in the bottom third of the table.

What's Williams like mate??

He's got some big shoes to fill in those of Westwood's.

Only him and Josh Gowling from Bournemouth in so far this season and with the new board taking over, I've had a punt on us to be relegated.

To be fair he was not a bad keeper (some of the time) and made some glorious saves in his time with us. He was far too inconsistent for the Gresty Road End faithful though and the love/hate relationship turned a bit nasty.
I don't know if it was a concentration/confidence thing but in one match, for example, he pulled off a magnificent save and then about ten minutes later almost did a Paul Robinson (except the ball didn't bobble for Williams).
Most of the frustration for Crewe fans seemed to be centred around the fact that he appeared to drift way too far off his line and struggled to recover - although at times his indecision in coming off his line cost us dearly.
It got to the point where he was in a no win situation with the GRE lot and I think he'd had enough of the abuse from behind him.

A very forward thinking attitude at Crewe these days

The board are playing up the 'competition' for championship sides to sign Nicky Maynard whilst consoling the fans with the 'how much we would like to keep him BS' yet ordering their new cars as they are delivering press releases

Definitely bad news is that Jake Livermore, the on-loan Spurs youngster, suffered a fractured fibula during the friendly with Wrexham. Bit of a bugger that as he looked quite promising.

Good 4-0 win in our friendly with Hull City today.

I know it's pre-season and results don't matter and all that stuff but it's encouraging to get a good workout.

Hull were shocking in the first half and were 4-0 down at the break. They changed the entire team for the second half and to be fair they were much better. Hull had the majority of the chances in the second half and it took some good defending and excellent goalkeeping to keep them scoreless.

Although Calvin Zola netted himself a hat-trick my man of the match was our new keeper Steve Collis who bossed his area and even saved a penalty.

One of our problems is that we struggle to put in good performances in consecutive weeks. We will see if it runs true to form after the visit of Preston NE next Saturday.

How can you roll your eyes at a top signing like that, but then not say anything about Lucketti who has passed it and clearly looked it the other day.

Should be a good season for Town next season though. ST is building a squad, which is something Huddersfield have been missing for many years. Always seemed to have a nice 11 lately but nothing more.

What starting team and formation would you go with?
