On the way back we called in at the Wheatsheaf at Burn where they were serving John Smith's 2008 Grand National 'Winners Tipple' Limited Edition. Obviously, I had to give it a try - sits in the glass not unlike Johns Cask and is similar in colour but has a taste which leans towards darker ales.

A delicious quaff revealed a full bodied taste that danced on the tongue like a manic Wayne Sleep. Truly a complex and magnificent ale.''
