Another is to develop young players and bring through your own pipeline of talent to form the nucleus of the squad as franchising brings tighter quota restrictions. Morgan's had nearly 3 years at Rovers and there's not much evidence so far that Rovers academy will form the backbone of the squad in the near future.
Yes Morgan has been here nearly three years, but as you know only one of them has been spent in the SL.
The first season and a tiny bit he had to concentrate on building a squad that would promote us, and put us in the position to be able to develop a good youth structure.
Morgan has as you well know, had one full season in the SL. He blooded some youngsters last season, before you start, I know not much, but in case you hadn't noticed we were fighting for survival.
He has voiced very strongly that youth will be a BIG focus for him now. This season our squad has already featured K. Netherton and L.Welham and to be honest I don't think it will be long at all before Chaz gets his chance.
Do I think the backbone of our squad will be home grown by next season or the one after, no. However Rome was not built in a day, now we are on a level playing field we can start to judge him.
In summary; I don't think you will be waiting that long for your "evidence."

I seem to remember the re-instated Hull mod tried for weeks trying to convince anyone who would listen that Briscoe hadn't signed for any club.

No you didn't. An easy statement to make in hindsight.

He hadn't signed, the deal was there for him but he had signed nothing at the point when Ash said what he said.

Time will tell where he ends up. Maybe more chance of regular 1st team rugby in the lesser side might be the better long term option rather than having to compete against finished articles in Walker and Webster.
So you think that centres who can't defend are finished articles.

You must remember that Hull have had a 9 or 10 year head start on Rovers in the 'big time'. This has given them 9 or 10 years to pick the best of the local kids, in the past when an academy player has shown potential for Rovers he has been snapped up by the pulling power of Super League, Washbrook and Wheeldon for example, now with Rovers also being in the 'big time' the local talent has the choice of the two, so I think we should wait and see how the young kids that signed for a Super League Hull KR perform in the next couple of seasons! I personally think in a couple of years Rovers will be producing the same amount of talent as Hull, just like the olden days!!!!

Don't forget letting Gleeson cross the try line before attempting to tackle him. Strange actions for a "finished article".

I think to turn and chase an opposite centre who took the ball running would have been a bit too much for most players, talking of coaches being worried when their players are outpaced Sharp stuck by Sing when he was out paced by a certain bald headed front row forward so Webster shouldn't worry!!!
