To be honest i think most fans like myself are addopting a wait and see policy.
Speaking from the facts we have he has not got a great career behind him and looking at his age has not get a great one in front of him, the latter part of that statement is what bothers me and is why i would be much happier if we had signed him to a 1 year deal.
I am also of the opinion that we wont really be able to say if he was a good signing until the final signing is announced and the squad is completed.

No its not. Wigan fans are no worse than any others in this respect. All fans of all clubs have differing opinions of various players.

Why is it embarrassing to debate the merits of a new signing? Isn't that what everyone does at all clubs? I am with you on the "Wigan standard" thing though.
Quote:I don't know what world some Wigan fans live in. They've been blasting Fielden all season, apparently oblivious to the fact that he's been injured AND doing the work of two men (the other being one of their darlings - the overrated Feka). And now they've decided this new guy is 2h1te, even though most of them have never seen him play.
Whatever happened to closing ranks or showing solidarity with our own? For Heaven's sake, if Carmont really does turn out to be crap, then have your day then. Until that day, give the poor guy a chance - he's wearing our colours and representing our side. At least respect him for that.
Fair points. I myself will adopt the "wait and see" attitude. I am in favour of us signing an experienced centre because of the flexibility it gives in the squad and means Goulding doesn't get pushed in too early.

Couple of things......
1. Whose boots was Jamie Lyon "fit to lace" before he came over here ??? He was a pig-shooting EX-NRL player before he came to Saints. Admittedly, he went on to star in the team, but what had he done up to that point in the NRL - he was never a "star-player", and come to think of it, what has he done since going back ???? (The word Over-rated seems to get thrown at him quite a bit recently)
2. If George can tackle, run and give more than 1 pass per game (successfully) to his winger, then he is already BETTER than DV, who he has replaced, and for less (much less) money.
I bagged him at first, on the basis of the "mixed" reports from Knights fans, but as has been pointed out, Trent Barrett was "well shut of", "crocked", "past it", "mercenary", "ready for retirement" and "shïte" when he came over.
For that reason, I will reserve any judgement until he has played several matches for us.
However, thinking about it, I can't see how I can come to a negative conclusion.
As I stated above, if he can make 1 of each (tackle, pass, run) in a match where his contract is NOT on the line, then he is giving us MORE than DV, for a fraction of the salary.
Any judgements on this lad's ability/effort HAVE to be viewed in the light of "What would DV have done ???"
(we all know the answer to that - Dropped it, knocked on, held on too long or just not been there in the first place)
Let's just wait and see, shall we ????
