The difference is that Maurice would most likely have spent £140,000 on him.

Why Cant people realise what Carmont is ?
Hes a stop gap and a decent one. No he's not King or cooper but we cant afford them guys THIS season.
Were running on a low budget and IMO we have with the money available done pretty good with signing. as IL said 08 will be hard but 09 will be different.

Top quote from George on Wikipedia (font of all useless knowledge!)
Carmont when asked about Newcastle "I’d like to stay here as long as I can, maybe I’ll try England if that doesn’t work out, but I’ll get what I can out of football while the body holds up," he said. "It beats working in a chicken factory."

Carmont - poor signing tbh and i doubt he will score more than 5 or 6 trys next year.
But lets be realistic - weve got no money to spend on a good centre and hopefully he can add a bit of experience to a good backline. Anything is better than that tw*t DV.

Danny Peacock (Centre), Daniel Gartner (2nd Row), Michael Withers (FB/Cntre), G Bradley (Centre), Shontayne Hapi (Centre) Henderson (Hooker) and I am sure there are a few more.
All relativley unknown players that werent classed as superstars who all came to Bradford & won Super League titles & Challenge cups during their time there.
Pretty sure that Brian Noble had something to do with the signings of some of them & would have learnt from previous coaches i.e Brian Smith & Matthew Elliott about getting the right "Combination" of players with the right "Attitude" to join your club rather than the Mercenary type that we may have signed over the last few years.
From memory I dont remember him assembling too many Bad squads at Bradford and making too many bad signings either!
As for being as good as Vaeliki then basically if he can catch/pass/tackle and score more than 1/2 dozen tries in a season whilst only being on about 1/3rd the money then I for one would rather have him here than Jethro "Bandy Legs" Bodine Vaeliki!

My source reckons Wigan are spending the full salary cap. I think the source is right on this so why do you think Wigan are running on a low budget? Is Leneghan not letting the club spend as much as Whelan use to?
At least Carmont has signed, my source wasn't wrong on that one. Does this now mean that Wigan will only be signing one of Cooper and Pryce?
My source was certian they were both going to sign, apparently to be announced originally on 1st November but this was put back to when Leneghan annouced his takeover but was put back from then to allow him to spin a yarn about having no money to spend and for the signings to be confirmed 1st December in time with the take-over becoming official. Could be a big news week at Wigan next week.
