That's the place.

Went to Kashmir with A-Fire-Inside and AP yesterday.

It was the first time I'd been and I thought it was alright. A bit like being in a 1970s decorated nuclear bunker but ok all the same.

I had a seekh kebab (80p) and it was alright. Meat was good but maybe lacking in a bit of spice. 5/10

For the main I had a vegetable karahi and that was spot on. Plenty of fresh veg* and enough fresh green chillis to give it a decent kick. 9/10.

Two rotis to go with it. They were pretty good but had a bit of a tendency toards going a bit dry. 6/10.

Overall it can't have been much more than £6 for the lot.

*The most notable veg was the cabbage. That's cabbage and curry. Oh, and a Czech 'black lager' beforehand. The window to the bedroom stayed open all night after fire safety advice.

The total bill for the 3 of us was £16.50... that's £5.50 each... so your £7 contribution to the bill was much appreciated

AP is less than 0.5% interested in the substandard Stupor League.
England's substandard performances in the RLWC08 saw to that.

Its only because I felt guilty for wiping a bogey on your roti.

Must have been that bogey of yours that gave me chronic indigestion last night. But then again, it could have been the rotis... I suspect it is the rotis. Three different main courses I've had there recently and chronic indigestion after all three visits.

Its fair to say I've had a fair bit of wind but no gut pain or other ill effects at all.

Get yourself a korma next time.

Well now the diets over it was time to try an old restaurant, one i havnt been to in years..so after a skinfull in Gotham City otherwise known as Cleckheaton we risked life and limb and went to ..
The Royal Kashmir...horncastle street.

Starters..
2xOnion baji....deep fried, good portion, tasty, nice yogurt sauce...7/10.
Shami kebab...swimmin in grease, deep fried, but very tasty....7/10.
Mixed kebab....selection of kebabs, samosa, baji, nice but greasy..7/10.
Main..
Lamb dopiaza...good portion no fat or gristle, very tasty...7/10.
Chicken massala...lots of chicken sauce abit tasteless....6/10.
Chicken Vindaloo....Hot..plenty of it, but not much taste...6/10.
Keema madras....very nice, plenty, very tasty....7/10.
Drinks..
1 can cider..
1 can lager..

Summary...
This restaurant has been here for at least 25 years, it has a bar but only sells cans out of a fridge. The food has always been very good but is on the whole very greasy otherwise we would have scored it higher.
Defo worth a visit but it is no way a venue for a "do"..formica tables and grease running down the walls make it a "slop house" for after a skinfull.
Also time your visit before 11pm, has a reputation for being a battleground when the chavs leave the pubs....
All this for a total cost of....£28......bargin..

Went to Omar Khans last week straight after a LONG drive back from Edinburgh.

From what I remember...

Shami Kebab starter was very different to what I'm used to. Came in a batter and was kind of held together by that. Different but still quite nice, although I think I prefer the way that other places I've been do it.

Can't remember the name of the thing I had for main. It was chicken and began with a H, but it's something I'd not seen on other menus, so it wasn't a familiar name. Hirali or something was it? Dunno. Very very nice though, and the accompanying naan was also top notch.

I'm debating tonight. Can't decide whether to go to the Kashmir or the Nawaab. Neither I've tried before and fancy trying another one. (Well, I've tried the Kashmir, but I was off my face at the time, so can't remember if it was any good or not). That's all unless the girlfriend decides she doesn't want to try one of those, in which case we'll end up at the Punjab.

I take back what I said about the Punjab chapple kebabs not causing toiletry problems in the morning. I must have just got lucky the last time.
