Well, I've just eaten at the Khyber Tandoori in Idle.
By my reckoning it was the first time I'd paid the place a visit since taking a girl I used to knock around with there for her 15th birthday and, on tonights evidence, I haven't missed much in the intervening 11 years or so.
The seekh kebab and the chapatis were just about passable, but the Chicken Jalfreizi was without doubt the blandest, made for whitey clientele dish I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing.
If it's only 11 years before I go back it will be too soon.
Paid a visit to Akbars last night (Leeds Rd version). Had a taste of girlfriend's too, so will comment on both.
Keema Samosa was decent. Filling was excellent, but I've had better pastry. Prawn & Chicken Poori was superb and spicier than anywhere else I've had it.
Girlfriend's Chicken Korma she said was top notch, but I'm not a korma fan, so I'll take her word for it. My Chicken Tikka and Keema balti was quite superb. They slightly overcooked the Naan though.

I used to go all the time. I suspect if I go now it'll be on my own. There is a rumour doing the rounds, which is almost certainly utter bull5hit, that they cook their veggie dishes in pans used for meat dishes without cleaning first. This, imo, is akin to the rumours that <insert name of local takeaway here> is the reason why the cat from down the street is missing. My GF is veggie, most of my friends are veggie, many colleagues are veggie, etc. All are gullible fuckwits.
The choice has been pretty much made for me - we don't go to the International any more. We now go to other restaraunts with kitchens and assorted goings-on that are just as hidden and unknown as those at the International.
For the record though, the International is at its best on a weekday luncthime.

Those chapple kebabs are ruddy gorgeous.
And the chicken chana was very nice too. Very filling, what with all them chick peas, but too good not to finish.
The backlash from the kebabs has begun. I - and probably most of the neighbourhood - was awoken by a violent gaseous release that would have holed a Class D destroyer had I been close enough to one at about 3am. About to attempt visit number 3 of the day, which is usually the nadir. Visits 1 and 2 involved some stinging that quickly passed but the increase in intensity is on the rise.
