New Buffaloes signing Robin Wilkes will be carrying on a rich amber and black family tradition when he pulls on the Bramley shirt for the first time.

The 21-year-old forward will be following in the footsteps of father Keith and grandfather Alfred who both turned out for the West Leeds club during its professional era.

“There’s a proud Bramley tradition in the family,” explained Robin “and I’m looking forward to maintaining that over the next few months.

“My father and grandfather both had happy times at the club when they played at McLaren Field and we have all followed the club’s fortunes closely since they reformed.

“It was one of the reasons why I decided to move to the Buffaloes from Queens,” added the Headingley-based plasterer who joined Queens from Milford six years ago after taking up the game aged ten.

The Buffaloes can clinch the Minor Premiership Co-operative Conference title on Sunday (23rd August – 2.30pm) with victory over Featherstone Lions at Stanningley.

“It’s great to be joining such a successful team and I hope I can play some small part in helping the side to reach and win the Grand Final in October,” added Robin.

Bramley coach Mark Butterill commented “Robin is an accomplished loose forward or second row and gives us real strength in depth as we approach the business end of the season.

“We want to see a good crowd behind us on Sunday for what is a final home game of the regular season against a team in Featherstone Lions that will present a major challenge,” added the Buffaloes chief.
