Supporters Direct, the umbrella organisation for supporters’ trusts in the UK and Europe, has been announced as the main sponsor of Rochdale Hornets forthcoming Cooperative Day on Sunday July 10th.
The event, now in its second year, is a celebration of the cooperative values that Hornets, as the only supporter owned club in professional rugby league, shares with business across the UK. The club is hoping this year’s event will be even more successful than last as the club look to cement their play-off position with victory against Workington Town and set a new Championship 1 attendance record at the same time by filling Spotland Stadium with 10,000 people.
Laura Harrison, Rugby League Development Manager for Supporters Direct was excited about the forthcoming event:
“At a time when attendances have become ever more important to club incomes, it’s great to see Rochdale really taking the initiative by pushing for a sell out crowd. It’s undoubtedly an ambitious target but I’m confident that if the rugby league community gets behind the fixture, there’ll be a fantastic atmosphere at Spotland on the day. I’m proud that Supporters Direct is involved and hopeful we can get a fantastic crowd in the ground to witness what should be an excellent game.”
Rochdale Hornets v Workington Town kicks off at 3.00pm at Spotland Stadium on Sunday July 10th and for every ticket sold, a donation will be made to Mencap. Tickets are priced at just £5 for adults and £3 for concessions and can be purchased by contacting the ticket office on 01706 648004.
