Post subject: | IN THE CENTURION THIS SUNDAY |
'The Centurion' is the match day magazine of Leigh Centurions. We’re up to 32 pages this week, although some way short of our 40 page target, due to a lack of adverts. Still, that means there are a full 27 pages of editorial comment and photographs. Head Coach PAUL ROWLEY explains what he thought went wrong at Featherstone, in his interview with DAVE PARKINSON and MARK TAYLOR, and looks forward to putting things right against Leeds, sorry, Hunslet! Skipper ROB PARKER talks about his new dual role at the club, in his interview with NATHAN LAWRENSON. For all of you with desk jobs, I can reveal that Rob has found his new job exhausting! Editor of the Leigh Independent, MIKE HULME, is in favour of tapping into the high-profile Olympian admirers of our game, to give it much needed publicity. CEO TREVOR BARTON welcomes our visitors, praises new Rob’s appointment and looks at the impact of ‘partnering’ in the Championship. There’s a double dose of GARETH WALKER, of League Express, this week. Gareth looks at the positive impact of the four new teams in our league, and then expresses his misgivings about the new ‘partnering’ arrangements. DAVE PARKINSON is back with a new, expanded ‘Facts ‘N Stats. Whether you are a ‘Statto’ or not, it makes fascinating reading Talk about ‘keeping up with the JONES’S’! We’ve got photos from two of them – MAURICE, and STE, as well as action shots from ED ROPER. It all makes for excellent images, including some very pretty snow scenes! Love RL correspondent, TONY WILLIAMS adopts a scathing look at the Australian reaction to Kevin Sinfield being awarded the ‘Golden Boot’! . The Junior Centurions feature will, in future, be penned by JOHN DUFFY. This week, TREVOR BARTON pays tribute to JOHN WILLIAMS, who has stepped down from his role with the juniors. ALAN EDGE contributes an ‘Editorial’ opinion on Dual Contracts and fun in the snow. He chucks his flat cap at two ungrateful members of the Sooper Dooper League community, and reveals the four-wheeled successor to the Stobart truck. He has also written the usual in-depth look at our visitors, Hunslet Hawks and penned a Commercial feature – welcome Rob! This week we welcome a new contributor, who talks about something slightly unusual. Welcome to young RYAN BRIERLEY, who showcases the ‘Infusion Dance Academy’ Nice one Ryan! ALAN PLATT updates us on the Touchdown Club news, LYNDA PIKE provides the LISA update, (including news on where you can spend a romantic Valentine’s night, for only £11 each!) and the excellent LOTTERY department have their latest news. Once again, there is the usual squad, fixture and sponsorship information – all for just £2.50. Fingers crossed, (and publisher permitting) it is intended to have this edition available for purchase at our Market retail outlet, on Friday or Saturday. |
