I've only been watching the Eagles since you moved to Bramall Lane. Since then I been to every home game and i've loved it!

However I find it really difficult to gain any info about the games and to buy tickets etc and this imo is down to the god awful website.

I'm sorry but this should of been updated about 10 years ago! It's all well and good trying to attract new fans to the lane but when we can't get any information easily from the website it's pointless. I see Wednesday, United and Rotherham all have the same website design and I think this something that the club needs to urgently look because its fell behind the likes of (no disrepsect) Batley, Keighley & Dewsbury and it's a case of searching the website, united's website and the sheffield star website for news and updates.

Does anyone know why the website hasn't been updated, funds or ....?

I mean I know a few friends who are students like me at Hallam who do Web Design related courses and i'm sure would love to, part time and for a small fee make a new website and update it. It would look great on their CV and + some of them would find it a sort of hobby!

Sorry, rant over :D

Not a bad looking website but it never gets updated, the stats havnt been updated since the end of April,I'm sure if you got in contact with someone at the club, they would be interested,I'd phone Brendon up at the club,I'm sure he would appreciate all the help he could get.

I'm not sure that fees would apply here :D
But it's a very good point by Liam.

Many Eagles fans will have skills that would be useful to the club.

I'm sorry but look at 80% of SL and CH and CH1 websites and their better than this in terms of updates, content, look and style. All the images are still of DVS!

How much you reckon it would cost to get a new website etc? It's badly needed imo as today most people found out about anything via the internet and if someone had a slight interest in perhaps watching a game the maze that is http://www.sheffieldeagles.com/index2.htm would put me off for sure.

Maybe the club should do a "what can you contribute" and if it's worthwhile and depending on how much they do get a free shirt or something as a thank you and also a sorry for them not being in stock stil- I don't know i'm just throwing a daft idea out there  I know everything is down to cost and totally understand that but the club needs a big update across the board IMO to bring itself up to 2010.

Regarding the website I have been asked by the club to contact Liam via pm with some details to get in touch with the club about the proposal mentioned earlier in the thread about Sheffield Hallam students contributing to the website. Further proof that the club DOES read this forum and DOES listen to suggestions.

I originally designed that website about 8 years ago and i used it for Batley Bulldogs, Thornhill Trojans and Dewsbury Rams and i later allowed the style/design to be adopted by Sheffield, at the time 4 clubs were using this template based on my original design and all were happy with it, since then 3 of those clubs have adopted other designs which have cost them a tidy sum in setting up and maintaining by a professional company.

Its all about cost fella, this design cost zilch where as better professional ones can cost anything between £500-£10,000 depending on the content and how many pages the site has, its OK if you can get someone to do it for free but not many will.

Its all down to cost, oh and having someone willing and capable enough to keep it updated, when i started doing stuff like this the addage "content is king" applied and still does, an all bells and whistles website might be pleasing on the eye but if the match reports are 3 days after the game then whats the point.

Sheffield always struck me as a progressive club and im sure its something theyre looking into, ive not covered the Eagles much this season but i did say to Brendon they can have free access to any images i have and that still applies.

thanks for the info mate. to design and create a website is a hard and time consuming things so I take my hat off to you it's just like you say it was made nearly 10 years ago and the eagles need a update very soon but like you say cost is everything..
