Just like to get everyone views on this article? Do you think it could happen? a bridge to far? etc

I think a club always needs ambition to continue to grow and achieve better but as for 2012 goes I don't think the club is ready yet at all. 2015 or 2018 perhaps. Now I know i've only been to 1 eagles game at BL :D but i've watched saints for the past 10 years following and it will take alot to be a well structured, good rugby league club.

If he wants to go for it why not. We are owed a place in SL to replace the one which was ufairly taken away ten years ago.

The club infrastructure, academy and stadium are in place, we now merely need the attendances. Hopefully Saturday will help towards that goal.

(I might had that Cheating Crusaders we admitted despite meeting less than half the RFL criteria and less than some teams who were not admitted).

If we win the NRC or make the grand final then we should absolutely apply, we probably won't get accepted but it will put us in front of others by the time 2015 comes around.

I think we should apply if we fit the criteria, but i do wonder it they will find a reason to turn us down. They dont like us!

Well if sheffield did apply then i think that they would get a 5 or 6 out of 10 and gain a B licence which is excellent IMO. Crowds need to improve drastically which will hopefully come when the team improves and being at BL too.

If you qualify to apply by winning the NRC or appearing in the GF then yes, definately should apply. Applications aren't reserved for some special little group of clubs. You're in a great location, great stadium and a proud history. Good luck with it i say.

I know sheffield has been in SL before but with Crusaders seen as an 'expansion' club then I think with our location then I don't see why we can't be classed as one too!

Not really.

Stadium yes.

Academy - doubtful. The U16s got smoked against Wakefield at the weekend. We don't have an U18s. We've not produced a Super League player from our junior ranks yet.

Club Infrastructure - no. We have a CEO who doubles as a coach. We have an accounts person. We have an administrator who doubles as a player. We have no dedicated sales staff, media staff, marketing staff, merchandising staff or football staff. Our community department probably comes up to scratch.

Super League is a long way off, but an application should be made in 2012 if eligible, if only to point out the shortcomings for future applications.

All (well, most of) that would come if we had a good income stream from crowds.

Crowds are like other things, size matters.

:) Now't wrong with have a little ambition 2015 License Bid? You need to start getting a regular decent crowd and be consistant top 3 finishers, up there in the NRC Final or there or thereabouts in the GF really, I certainly think Sheffield Eagles has a big future. How secure are you at Bramall lane though?
