Another good night except for the low turnout.

Martin's quiz was a great but a real stinker for the majority of us.
HL and ESO came up trumps proving that the educational system may actually be working :D

Thanks as always to the players who turned up.

A master stroke by Tubbs who hired a straight man to stand at the bar for his 30 minute stand up routine to provide him opportunity to deliver his punch lines.

Going back to the low turnout, I just don't know what Eagles supporters want. The weather wasn't that bad, the venue is reasonably easy to get to; there was free food so apart from a drink  it's a cheap night out.

The committee are all approachable people and although I'm not on the committee I'd ask people if there is something about the evenings that's putting them off going to let the committee know.

Maybe the publicity isn't as good as it could be, not everyone has the internet etc. So here's my suggestion  , leave a mobile number with a committee member and let them SMS you and let them redeem the costs from the funds.

Apologies from me, medical issues kept me away yesterday.

I would normally be there - stick at it, you're doing a great job.

Decent night, I can't take much credit for the quiz win, I only knew two :D Badvibes and HL were the brains behind it! And it gave HL a present for his Mum on Mother's day. :D

It was a relatively poor turnout, but I know my Dad had a word with Mark about producing some flyers for us to hand out, I'm sure the numbers will come in time. The only negative was the special case birthday boy, I wanted some of whatever he was drinking!

This is no offence, I just can't be bothered to go on a night. Me n my Dad ran 1 years ago n it did really well after a while, so hang on in there. We used to have it before the match tho n if it was poss you may consider that? Is there nowhere close by BL u could hold it. Just a thought. I'd wait until we actually attend a game there tho :o

A good night last night. I enjoyed foxing most of you with my quiz. I WILL make it a little easier next time, and may even include some cricket questions for Hawkeye.
As to the attendance, I guess it depends on how much people want to go. It's almost impossible to find a venue or format that will suit everyone, because everyone likes different things, and we all live in different places. Perhaps we could operate an "on the road" rota for fans nights and hold them in different areas? Also it might not have helped that there was football on TV last night. Sheffield IS still a football city essentialy, and a night in front of the box watching a match might be more appealing to some folk after a day at work. I thought the staff at the Cocked Hat last night did us proud, and the sandwiches and bar food went down very nicely. It's a shame we couldn't find somewhere near Bramall Lane to base ourselves for fans nights when we move there. Being close to town it should be equadistant for nearly everyone. Other than that, we'll just have to hope the idea catches on and as the weather improves (if it ever does), our attendances do as well. Bring on Widnes on Sunday, and up the Eagles. :ROCKS:

We are looking at alternative locations, including a potential venue near BL. I think the original idea was to have events in the city centre or around Don Valley, as people make it to DVS on a matchday so why not another evening? And just about every bus/tram in the city ends up in the city centre at some point.

I quite liked the quiz, thought it was a good idea, and i'm not just saying that because I won!

Special mention to the drunk at the bar for asking questions that even he didn't understand.

Appreciate what E.glet and HL are saying.

Meeting before games would at least get people to talk and pass into on.

And a settled base for the supporters nights would help.

I agree,i think before the game would be better and close to the stadium, numbers would definatly improve then,as for a once every two month event?i'm sure people could change there routine myself included for an hour it's not a lot to ask.

I think there is perhaps room for both types of meetings in alternate months.

Especially the evening ones during the close season

I also think a lot of people dont know about it,It would be hard not to notice a meeting before the game and as Airborne says i'm sure you'd get a few extras to a night meeting.
