I suppose I could turn this into a doom and gloom, inquest type post but honestly, I feel that wouldn't serve any purpose and any inquest really needs to be done behind closed doors by the people that really matter, the players and staff, if an inquest is really needed.

Yes, today's defeat to South Wales Scorpions was embarrassing and as lower point as there has been in recent years at the club but what I was thinking about once I got in from today's game was what can people to do help the club.

Recently, I've seen Grimsby Town football fans raising money for new signings and Rugby League teams, such as Bradford Bulls, have squadbuilder organisations that look to raise money for their playing squads. Would that really help? Being an expansion side, it's hard enough to get players in the first place so having more money available probably wouldn't be the end of all of our problems.

However, fundraising is the key to what I was thinking. By fundraising, that can provide the club with more/better equipment and resources, coaching, travel etc to help the youth squads at the club and IMO the development of players should really be the key and what any sort of fundraising should be geared towards.

I've seen that the club run a lottery scheme, from £1 a week and this could be the tool to raise these funds. I'm guessing that it's a 50/50 split in money to the winners and the club but that's what I was working on and come up with a few figures;

* 100 people pledging to pay £5 a month works out at £3,000 to the club and £3,000 as prize money for the participants.
* 100 people pledging to pay £10 a month works out at £6,000 to the club and £6,000 as prize money for the participants.

Obviously, the more participants, the more prize money and more importantly, the more money donated to the club.

I don't know if this needs to be discussed at a fans forum/with the club but I suppose this is a thread to discuss ideas and that is mine.

Went to the A team game today. There seems to be no pathway anymore for our own produced players to get to the 1st team. Neglecting our own players is wrong and not the way I understood the club wanted to progress. . We have some good youngsters who shouldn't be lost to union . The previous coach understood this approach. The current coach seems to think northern players are better. He maybe proved right , but it should not be at the expense of Losing London products.

Went along to the London and SE cup final yesterday at Old Blues and following the main event was due to
see Chargers v Skolars A.For whatever reason Skolars failed to show although Chargers were warming up waiting for the opposition on the pitch. It reminded me of my London Junior League days involved at my local club.That was commonplace at that level. Not so sure its acceptable at this level though. But to be fair perhaps there was a good reason for the non appearance.

lads all fair comments. the club has reeled from struggling with lost players such as dylan skee and others of that ilk when we challenged for promotion a few years ago. add that to the complete crap around facilities and the extra costs thrown at the club and the RFLs mad decision to add multiple clubs in the south without any view on player availability has hit us for 6. This year we recruited poorly and that was why change was needed. to come in half way through the season is hard. however i think we are turning a corner.

on the A team yes its been a shocker and we should never have entered. player pathway at the club however has never been so positive. we have made huge strides at the club from minis up. that ago jump from 17s to first team is something we need to fix. The southgate college level 3 academy will help. we need to think long and hard what to do. we were pushed to join the A team comp a few weeks before it kicked off and we should have said no. we will review that and figure it out. lots of kids to come i can promise you.

bear with us. the fund raising side would be a massive help but it has to be fan driven. we will get there

Thanks to Elite Skolar for the honest update. While with the building works I realise it may not be easy to house it, it would be good to have a fans forum before the end of the season to let us know where things are going.

On a positive note Saturday's performance in Cheltenham was the best this year by a considerable margin. Now to back up against Oxford.
