cold and overcast the game started in whitehaven, but by half time it was hail and snow. 2nd half the teams came out to bright sunshine!!!!! by the end of the game the pitch resembled a bog...i dont envy the person doing the washing!!!!

the first half was a great display by skolars, better than had been seen in the past games players defending well, tackling so that the opposition couldnt off-load, great support play. matt thomas and oliver fountain scoring tries. we had a try disallowed as a double movement (i think the ref was shivering so much he was seeing double at this point in time) .....we went into half time 12-2 up. wath brow came out for the 2nd half with the bit between their teeth and with skolars throwing bad passes, knock-ons..you name it we did it. there was one bright display in the 2nd half where we were passing the ball at speed and making ground only for our player to be taken into touch right on the try line. at the end of the day there can be know excuses skolars threw the game away

Thanks for the review Cents3!!!
It sounds like the worst conditions for playing footy however not to be Negative however I suppose it will sound that way....it is pretty embrassing to get beat by a team (many would of thought we should of beat).
This club need some results to go their way and for their confidence to come back.
Cents3- how are the boys doing? The club has been getting smashed for nearly 5 years now expect the 2nd year of Latham being in charge.
What do you think we are missing in the squad? Are our backs good enough? Our forwards strong enough?

Sorry for sounding negative, just want to see better results.
Feel free to bash me around the head

Just look at the photos also.....(Great photos btw).....the second half conditons looked terrible.
I might retact some of my comments above however i still think the team still should of won this game.
Onwards and upwards.....lets start the league season in better fashion.
Do the little things right and big things will happen.

The Wath Brow lads have been playing in these sort of conditions all season I expect, but that is no excuse. Callum has laid the ground work but he can't play the game for the players.
Also couple of decisions against us, one of which was a try that was ruled a double movement....even some of the Wath supporters were surprised at that. (As the player went down both his arm and ball were sliding over the try line - never left the ground)
The left side backs worked better this week than I have seen so far, but the right side backs dont get enough of the ball, the recycling is slow. Our backs are strong, fast runners but they need to be used more. I think what is missing is a couple of big forwards who will power the ball further up the middle, makemore ground.
We did have a bright fast action moment in the second half where the ball was passed out and back at pace - quick pop passes, knowing where you support is, nothing flash, and it looked like Matt Thomas was on for his second try but got pushed into touch just before the line. If they could do this sort of work more often they will begin to trust each other. We also need to vary the kick offs...they all seem to go straight to the left of the field..the opposition are just standing there waiting to catch the ball.

On a final note, I would like to say thank you to the Whitehaven and Wath Browfor the hospitality shown on the day - it was first rate, and also thanks for pushing my car when I found I had a dead battery

No problems, just glad to hear you had a safe journey. As for bumping the car - easy peasy - the four of us that pushed it probably weighed more between us than the six lads we had in the pack put together!!

Best wishes for the rest of the season, hope you can get a win under your belt and that will help you turn it round.

Watched your lad's try again today on DVD and I'd say Phil Bennett would have been proud of those two sidesteps.!!

Yours in RL - bloke who had a crack with you re the game in the director's room.
