Perry - he needed a voice inside the team and wanted an extra option in the halves. The question is - how long is his contract for and what is it worth? Will he still be here next year?

Bird - "top quality" player, cannot play in NRL or England, he's got no choice but to play for us. I would hope we signed him for a song and had a bash at him doing well.

Neither would be my choice, in fact I think we could field a team of French + Greenshields, but possibly he isn't completely bonkers.
