McIlorum extends for another year. And while I don't think he's been as pivotal this year as previous, still more than good enough and the general improvement in that area can't be merely coincidental with having him around.

Rich Hunwicks is leaving. Difficult to understate the impact he's had on the strength and conditioning front since he came in four years ago. Big shoes to fill and a key appointment as we try to kick on from what's been achieved this year

Pearce is a very good player still. He hasn't been himself since he broke up with his girlfriend and cancelled his wedding earlier this year. He needs to move on from Newcastle.

Pearce is a much more gifted player than Maloney, but Maloney's record shows he produces in big games and in important moments, while Pearce has the exact opposite record. Pearce puts in solid efforts for 80 minutes in game after game, but nearly always falls short in the big, important moments.
