A few new names for us this year, should be a good competitive division. East Manchester are a new one - anyone know anything about them?

For me Hilton Park in Div 2 will be the one to watch. Without knowing the details, believe they've been formed on the back of turmoil at Leigh East and have recruited some VERY good and experienced players from across the Leigh amateur scene and some ex-pros/semi-pros? A little disappointed they've been bumped up to Div 2 - while they'll undoubtedly be a very good and very tough side, would have liked to have seen how we went against them. Be keeping an interested eye on their progress!

East Manchester are a new one to me, as are Liverpool City other than seeing their name in last years merit.

Putting Hilton Park in div 4 would be pretty much a pointless exercise for all concerned. Once they got themselves sorted players wise, Portico showed that last season. On paper HP have a very strong side and I believe they've had to pay a £500 bond to join at div 2 so I'd say they're pretty serious.

Good to see Orrell St James & New Springs back too. There's at least one more team to add to div 4 so there should be a full programme this season.

I think Liverpool City might be something to do with the side that lost one of the summer finals (to East Lancashire?) at Golborne in 2011? My (aging) memory is hazy, but anyway it was a good day out and a very good game.

Agree about Hilton Park, but would have been a challenge for us to have a go! They're certainly serious about what they're doing and looking at the calibre of the squad I'd say they'll take some beating.

What are Ashton A doing this season mate?

The man running Liverpool City used to run Ellesmere Port in the merit league but don't know how much crossover there is. The old Liverpool Buccaneers folded after that final against Accrington and Leyland Lions (who also split back up to the component clubs). The reason was they used to ship in winter players from St Helens but no longer could.

Any truth in the rumour of a Rylands return to summer?

Various lads from Ellesmere Port went to Chester (which is closer!)

Ashton A are in div 4, DL missed us off the leagues sent out last week. Last years 18's have all moved up now so both our squads are looking healthy.

We've added a couple of new coaches to the OA panel along with a physio & we've got a specialist strength & conditioner on board. Owning his own gym 50 yards from the club is helpful too!

Work began this week on rebuilding the clubhouse and work starts next week on all 4 pitches getting new drains so we've got lots of positive stuff going on here.

hilton park 22- 20 bamber bridge very good game both sides knocking hell out of each other very fast team with some very good players i actually thought the ref said it was 22-20 to us and we bombed a great chance right at the end both teams are going get better both teams had players missing,22-14 at half time we nilled them 2nd half great game was shocked at how good it was for a pre season game thought both teams made very few mistakes and was a very good run out

SV 22-10 Ashton.

Top hit out in real poor conditions. Considering we had only had one ball session in our pre season so far, we were very happy with how we went. cheers to ashton who sent good numbers and a strong side.
