I heard that the NWC were committed to running a competition that the majority wanted, and there were more clubs wanting to keep things as they are.

The NWC will continue to run a winter league for those that want it, however surely BARLA won't continue to support it forever.

I think the biggest complaint at the NWC meetings was NCL clubs, so that will be interesting to see what happens there.

NCL met downstairs at Leigh Miners last night, NWC upstairs...

there wasn't an open discussion at NWC which is probably for the best given it was valentines and that discussion could have lasted forever if it had got going!

There are some big Qs still. Summer comps in 2012 starting in March will force clubs to make the decision about what league to be in but does open up other issues. Suddenly struck me last night that NWC could (probably quite rightly) refuse entry to a team that they thought wouldnt complete their winter fixtures for season 11/12 because of an intention to switch to summer - that club could then go from the end of this March time, to the start of March 2012 without fixtures. again i'll say it, clubs (and not RFL, BARLA or Leagues) will have tough decisions to make...

If that were the case which i'm sure would only apply to the NCL club's 2nd teams then the opportunity to play a short winter season mirroring that of the one that would be on offer should the NCL dicide to switch would surely be on offer to those second teams too. Don't think the NWC management committee are that foolish.

it would apply to every club who are considering starting in the summer league in March 2012 which includes numerous clubs who are not NCL clubs. From what was implied on monday night, the clubs looking to move to summer from NWC do not have NCL sides. The issue is that NWC always over-runs into March - the summer season would be starting in March.

How are the NWC league going to decide which teams they are gonna refuse entry to then. There won't be many sides in the NWCL that declare their intentions before August other than those with NCL teams.

Considering we always hear 'the professional season has started so it's a struggle to find enough match officials' as soon as SL and Championship rugby starts, where are all the match officials going to come from if everyone is playing in the summer?
