with most of the NWC sides now back in pre-season I think that pattern will continue. Certainly one thing Ive picked this summer is that the enthusiasm for summer rugby has diminished compared to last year. When you look at the list of new teams like Fleetwood you've got to wonder if they'll be around next summer never mind sustain playing every week.

Wigan Riversiders Eels 46 - 6 Blackpool Stanley. Stanley travelled with 15 and borrowed 2 players from us. Burnley have pulled their fixture with us on 23rd July if anyone is interested in filling the slot, we'd like to play every week ideally.

Happy with the win, though we didn't play all that well - lots of dropped simple ball, defence was weak in spells and got a bit over-excited when we took a decent lead at one point and let Salford back in.

Salford had a lot of youngsters who kept going but never looked like really breaking us down. Physically they were never in it and we'd kept our discipline and stayed switched on we should have put another 20 on them.

But - a win's a win and I'm happy with that. :)

A much fitter Ashton team well deserved the win! Maybe some of our lot will actually turn up to training now...
