Newton storm 28-22 Culcheth eagles
good battle that went down to the wire. poor discipline cost culcheth who blame the ref for some decisions, he sin binned 3 of their players for petty stuff like answering back, so i feel abit of sympathy for them. few lads didnt shake our hands at the end. poor show, werent our fault he disliked them for some reason this is rugby however and whatever happens on the pitch should be forgotten at fulltime. what our sport is famous for
two very evenly matched teams though IMO and was glad to play in it.
Thatto Heath 30 v 16 Leigh East Hindley 64 v 0 Adlington Rangers Folly Lane 76 v 6 Cadishead Rhinos Bamber Bridge 0 v 82 Bank Quay Bulls Latchford Albion 26 v 28 Leyland Warriors Chester Gladiators 46 v 16 Bolton Mets Widnes West Bank 18 v 30 Chorley Panthers Newton Storm 28 v 22 Culcheth Eagles Wigan Riversiders 34 v 18 Little Hulton Reds Accrington Panthers 32 v 10 Bury Broncos Folly Lane A 18 v 52 Burtonwood Bridge Bank Quay A 12 v 28 Wigan St Patricks (Friendly Fixture)
Worrying some BIG score lines in Division one. Teams are very un-evenly matched in that Division.
We entertained a MUCH improved Little Hulton side from the last time we played them, they have a very solid pack with some excellent runners. We started like a house on fire and found ourselves 12-0 up after only 3 minutes! Full credit to the Reds who dug in and came back into the game, shortly after half time the score was 18-14.
We did enough to take the game comfortably at the end, but great signs of improvement from Little Hulton.

Let me guess, was it there number 6 by chance?
Decent player but has an awful attitude.

I remember him. Must be something about the number 6.
With a few minutes to go at Accrington, one of our props ran the ball in. Their 6 was on the fringe of the tackle and with our prop on the floor he took a look and stamped on his face. Very lucky not to lose an eye, the eyebrow and temple split open, eye closed, the side of his face swollen up. Ref didn't see it.
His attitude had stunk all game. He wasn't man enough to run the ball in once, but man enough to gob off and look for little cheap shots. They took him off after that for his own safety. As dipper says, everything gets left it on the pitch but in this case I hope our lad takes it further, it was the cheapest, most cowardly thing I've ever seen on an RL pitch. I didn't see him at the pub afterwards.
Other than that it was a tough but enjoyable game, the other Accy lads are a good bunch. Our rookies are coming on and but for 2-3 silly errors we'd have been in it.

Have you put a report in, if not you need to!

Bury 18-14 Bolton Mets
Strange game, we stuck to our game plan for the first 20 and last 10 minutes, but drifted into a grinding forward battle inbetween, which was what we wanted to avoid. Lots of mistakes from both sides, and a lot of penalties. Bolton brought a couple of guest stars in for the big local derby but no worries.
Bury took the lead (courtesy of a lovely diving gather & ground from a cross-field kick by yours truly ) but gave away some soft tries to go 8-14 behind. Slowly sorted ourselves out and dragged ourselves back into it to score the winning try with 2 minutes to go with a nice chip & collect.
I felt for Bolton at the whistle, they've had a tough time recently (as have we!) and they gave it their all today. Very enjoyable game.

Newton Storm 24-4 Hindley A
Great game played in great spirits, not one fall out on the park today, just both teams got on with their own game which was a pleasure to be apart of. Hindley A certainly were a much better team than their results show from this year, had a very powerful centre who was a ball ache to stop. first half both teams were equal, second half i think we managed to pull away as we looked a little fitter, all in all a great game and hope Hindley A continue to get good numbers and run two teams competetivley, good luck
Next up the home of mmp and Cronus, cant wait for this one, my first ever game of rugby was the first game of last season when u beat us, i personally got smashed all over the place and thought about going back to footy, well im still here anyway and looking forwrad to another good game. Cronus is buying the beers in after wimping out last year when coming to our place, excuse......his own stag do or wedding i recall

Always been good games v Newton. we did the double last year but we were lucky at your place as you were stronger on the day but couldn't quite put us away and we held out. Bury Times report here: http://www.burytimes.co.uk/sport/rugby/ ... roncos_22/
we havent been that great this winter so far but hopefully our win over Bolton (at the death!) should give us some confidence

Bury look like they have turned a corner and will be looking at ending this season strong, the win over Bolton showed glimpses of what they can do as a team and should enable them to get the win over Newton if they maintain shape ,structure and posistions, which they seem to forget about at times.
Though i will enjoy watching rugby league in Bury again this weekend. Hopefully next summer they will be stronger and play like they did last winter when they had a good run of wins away and home.
