Went to watch this, Irlam won something like 56-4, at a stroll to be honest. Langworthy had a few decent runners but several very young lads playing, while Irlam had their usual complement of big, strong runners who made holes with ease and scored some excellent long-range tries. Was never a competition but Langworthy kept giving their all.
Tried to find some other results, looks like the NWC have no website any more?? That's just laughable.

Couldn't play today and gutted to miss this. We have had a few young lads playing all season and to be fair to them they are holding there own but some big teams in this winter league so it's always going to be a big learning curve for them.

Had a look for you today mate, wondered if you'd be playing. Like you say some big teams, and Irlam are certainly a big bunch.
Didn't realise they'd added the winter league on there, found it now!

It's quiet on here!
Went to watch Irlam 22 - 18 Golborne today, a few mates playing for Irlam. Superb game with 2 polar opposite teams - Irlam are a massive side with some powerful units down the middle whereas Golborne were smaller but for me marginally slicker with ball in hand. That said, both sides have plenty of power and skill.
Anyway it was a see-saw game with the lead exchanging hands a couple of times. Golborne took the lead but Irlam got a powerful roll-on just before and after half-time and put a few scores on the board, it was up to Golborne to get back into it, and they came VERY close - only some outstanding goal-line defence saw Irlam through. It was tense and tasty for the last 30 with plenty of niggle and banter but eventually Irlam's big lads began to make their mark with big hits taking their toll - a few Golborne lads didn't know where they were for a while!
Oh and one of Irlam's scores was simply outstanding - a fest of offloads, angled runs, etc before scoring in the corner. Great game, intense atmosphere, loved it!
i didnt get down to the game on saturday (golborne), but got told of few mates that is was a good game, keep getting asked get back down for them, need abit of size in there pack, always bin a small pack us, same with all the teams down at golborne we always seem be smallest team
ur right a big set of irlam forwards but also big set of dirty barstewards number 19 who kicked one golborne player should have been sent off .Worst ref performance Ive seen all season he wants to go back to doing the interchange cards at st helens cause that's all hes fit for . ALBINO FAT PROP who lead with the elbow all game when they play at golborne hope they get the s**t kicked out of them and half of the team put in hospitial.

That's not very nice!
They're aggressive, I'll give you that. I didn't see the alleged kicking incident - but then I missed the first 30 due to Sales Sharks traffic. To be honest I didn't see anything overly dirty - it was aggressive, yes, and perhaps a couple of lads got a bit carried away at times - but there wasn't much in the way of high shots, elbows, etc - just hard and aggressive. The biggest and most damaging shots I saw were totally fair and legal.
I thought Golborne came out of it with heads high. Stood up well against a far bigger side and showed some real skill hitting sweet lines on the inside ball. As for winding things up for the return game, we all know that's never a good idea and wishing half of them in hospital for beating you just says bad loser. Sorry pal.
How can anyone judge a game when you only saw half of it is beyond me. Take off those tinted glasses even the irlam players admit to being thugs so don't try and defend them.Their just a bunch of fat thug forwards ur number 7 who likes to rip shirts learn him how to tackle and also what a s**t house he is cant get rid of the ball faster enough when some one is coming his way and thats is own players who are saying this .two mistakes cost Golborne the game and am not a bad loser the game of rugby is tough enough with out having fat thugs who kick players like running with elbows raised knees in tackles just hope we get some players back for the rematch. To all the Golborne players who had to be rounded up to make a team up you didnt let yourselves down.
