I thought he played a lot better than RFF is giving him credit for, was always looking to offload at every opportunity, 9/10 that offload came and cant remember an error made and ran in well, i think DP saw that as well by giving him a longer stint out there than of recent weeks

That said though i agree with RFF that he wouldnt be a first choice player if everyone is fit, but is doing more than enough to warrant a place in the squad at this time

He is certainly better than Dave Williams who we had from quins - and he is/was getting in the quins first team

Not too sure about his technique when driving the ball in. Head too low for a tall man and could end up with a nasty neck injury if not changed.

Think he would be a better player under DP's coaching as opposed to Kear, and think todays Wakey result proves that!!

he didn't do owt wrong. Against (Very) week opposition he did ok. A defensive stint against that opposition gets you few plaudits - some of the lads at Selby Wasrriors would have stood up against Toulouse forrads!!! Very poor.
He looked to offload - but so did everyone else. He didn't break the line too oft and doesn't dominate like I hoped he would.
At Barra he went down like Monica Lewinski everytime he was tackled and never looked like creating a break or decent offload. - That said, he again stood up well in defence which given Morro and Haley's absence is our main priority.
He's OK. And that's what I have concluded. Just OK! Coming from SL I kind of expected him to be able to step up and deliver what Morro and Haley offer the side. In my opinion, he doesn't do that!
Perhaps you're right Sidnee. An extended stay under DP may well improve his game.

Yes but he doesn't come from SL just a SL club. By that I mean he isn't a SL player, he simply hasn't had the game time for that to really apply. He is a very good Academy prospect who is on the fringes of first team. This means in my opinion he is something between an Academy player and a Championship player. So if you were expecting a SL player you were misled in the extreme. What I do believe is he is probably more advanced than anything you have in your own Academy so that's a bonus.

The biggest problem Ben has is the debut he made against HKR. It was the best I've ever seen at Trinity from a forward in 20 years which made expectations a bit OTT. He will be a goodun, I remember Peacock being on loan with Fev and he did OK but wasn't spectacular but he did kick on :D

Agree on all the points Vasty. Which is where I've been coming from. It appears that I am suppoised to heap superlatives on the lad and dole out my appreciation that he's the best thing we have!! - which I can't do.

The Peacock analogy is a goodone. Ben is ok! He may well turn out to be something much much better - but for the mo he's a good prospect and that's it.
I'll stick to my premise that "If we had a fully fit side he wouldn't get in the 17 at this stage with the squad we have"!!! That's not saying he's sheeeite - he isn't. He's ok for nowt. But nowt more than that yet!

Yep he had a great game.

It was a very clinical performance from Fev, with a bunch of young English
lads playing as a complete team.

Very impressed with them
