Post subject:  Away fan advice

I'm targeting our away game at your place on 1st April and after advice on accommodation, transport to and from the stadium and any other tips.
I'm thinking of using the Premier Inn on Tower St in the city centre. Likely to stay just the one night (Friday). Are there any other hotels in the east of the city, handy for the stadium?
I'll be using buses to get to and from the game. Are there plenty to choose from? Any advice on their numbers, times, pick up/drop off places. Do they run well after full time?
Any recommendations for breakfast on the Saturday? I'll be with my wife, we are happy enough at a McDonalds if necessary but it would be nice to hear of any other options. I'm mainly a cereal and toast person, whereas she likes a fry-up as a special occasion.
Thanks in advance.

That hotel is pretty well placed for a short walk to either the old town area or the marina, both are decent for food and drink. I’m not sure about getting a bus from there to the stadium though. A taxi may be a better choice.

Ended up booking the Holiday Inn Express in the city centre, so breakfast is sorted. I see that there is the No 3 bus that runs to the stadium. What about after the game, which will finish around 21:20. There's a No 3 back at 21:58. Any more nearby? Don't mind walking a bit.
Getting excited now.

Would recommend you book a taxi with 414141 cars stationed in Poorhouse Lane next to ground.
Hull s buses not the most reliable on an evening.

Drive taxis are a good bet. I use them quite a bit and find them OK . Their number is 01482 575757.

I'll get the game out of the way first. Congrats Rovers for a well deserved win. Clear as day to see the difference between a team that wanted to win and one that has got major issues. Not sure what Powell needs to do to sort it out, but he needs to get it done ASAP. Also well done to your club for the way they attracted the extra fans for this game. Spoke with a few of your fans and found them to be very friendly.
Trip report in case anyone is thinking of doing anything similar. I used the No 3 bus from the bus station to the stadium which was easy and straightforward apart from congestion towards the end of the journey. I inquired at the bus station about the return trip and was told there would be a few buses outside the ground. Not sure if this is a regular thing or just due to the bumper crowd. I got away bang on the hooter and sure enough there was a No 3 waiting, didn't see any more though. Back at the hotel half an hour later.
My missus enjoyed her retail therapy, we were last in the city about 15 years ago and noticed how the centre of gravity seems to have moved from Prince's Quay towards St Stephen's.
I was reminded a few times about the East v West debate. A bus inspector told me "be careful when you go to the dark side, watch your wallet".
So all in all, an enjoyable mini-break apart form the result.
