Lacking, apparently.

There's not too many players in the squad who come across as very clever under pressure. Just Dobson and Galea probably. I can't really think of any who seem to have proper old school bloody-minded determination.
That said, I do think we've generally had good bouncebackability and the spirit in the squad generally seems quite good.
Though the squad needed renewal, the departures of Briscoe, Newton and Vella was a lot of leadership to lose in one go. It's a comparatively youthful squad now, hopefully as they mature it'll come. Taylor comes across as pretty smart and will hopefully grow into a leader, but he's only just turned 21.

What do people reckon - look at bringing in a couple of wise heads to the squad next season or be patient with the younger players?

I think Withers is a clever player, but maybe not as a leader type. Clinton has plenty of experience and I think O'Hara will bring a bit of leadership when he is fit. That said, I agree that we are slightly down on leadership compared to last year hopefully Galea can sort that out on his return, as well as tightening up our left side defence ( )

I think the mental toughness and lack of leadership argument is a load of rubbish.

We lost the game on saturday for 3 reasons in my opinion:-

1) Dobbo had a rare off day.
2) Our threequarters forgot how to tackle.
3) Sandercock got his forward rotation wrong.

How a team can control a game for nearly 50 minutes and hold a comfortable lead of 26-8 and then just because a try is ruled out seem to lose concentration and go into their shells beats me, it has been a call this season that they is no singing from the East Stand crowd, they had that on Saturday and still didn't perform for 80 minutes. The honeymoon is over for the players, the preformance served up in the last 30 minutes was unacceptable for the money laid out over the close season, improvement is required immediately if this season is going to provide the promise talked about both the season started. Catalens and Huddersfield are going to be much harder then last Saturday and if the players turn in a similar performance we will be looking at another two large reverses. I'm sorry if this post upsets anybody, but it is my opinion to which I am entitled to.

does anyone else think with having our 2 hookers on from the start we miss their freshness later i think they are playing very well but as they tire we have no creativity to bring on

well personally i thought they got more down that left hand side after they nobbled Welham..... as this made him the weak link on that edge as he didn`t have the mobility to really affect things... and due too this they got some good momentum...

However the defending as a whole was not our best by a long shot and needs improving... I am not trying to single any one particular player out in that respect as they was all equally poor. Just they got more down that side after that ,up untill then we handled just about everything...

But have to agree Dobson had a mare, which was not helped by the ref not penalising the obstructions off the ball...only did penalise them once and they got away with another 2/3 ,this in itself made them rush plays etc, so that comes down to lack of composure...

I`m not trying to blame the ref for the dissapointing way in which we lost, but he certainly contributed with a few odd calls or non calls as the case may be, the 80m bradford break for example, which should have been a penalty on their 10m line for our guys crossing and then the bradford player getting up from the tackle and not playing the ball straight away and waited for a fellow player... this was just in one break... and had ganson made the right calls on this occassion then the likelyhood is bradford would not have score that important try... All our players gave up on that initial cross instead of playing to the whistle and this itself allowed the bradford player to get away... that one comes down to concentration and lack of.

but we still don`t seem to have that ruthless streak that the good teams have or the consistency needed to get too that level.. and until this changes then i seriously doubt we will improve much further...

just after coming out in the second we scored and took it to 24-8 and then they seemed to decide that that was the game won.... lacked that ruthlesness of the wigan or warry or leeds etc to really finish and put the game to bed properly... hopefully they will have learned this lesson...
