Hudge and Pearson say the boardroom bickering must end.
They are re-introducing the pre-season friendly and are also in favour of a joint Hull and Rovers team to take on England. Basically they want both clubs to work closer to make both sides stronger. They have stipulated this is NOT the first steps to a merger.

We all know that 90% of the "bickering" has come from Hudge anyway, so lets hope he's true to his words. I don't get this "re-instating the pre-season friendly" rubbish. It's only ever taken place once since we entered SL, and that was for Horney's testimonial. I don't think its needed as we play a min of 3 regular SL games each year, this is just overkill and fan exploitation.

I'll be there in January.

Totally agree SirStan, interest in the SL derbies has gradually waned since 07, so why would they bring back the pre-season friendly? If it's for a good cause like a testimonial or the Clive Sullivan Memorial Trophy then fair dues, but as a pure friendly I think it's a mistake personally, less is more when it comes to the derby at the moment I reckon.

All good, IMO.

Not to keen on the return of the pre season friendly derby with them!

Can only be good for both clubs, but as has been said; no point having a friendly, especially if we are playing them first game in Cardiff

Let's see, I hope this more than just posturing, although, even if it is it's better than the all out silly bickering we've had for the last five years.

Junior development, sponsorship, facilities all much better as a joint venture.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

I'm struggling to work out how the junior development would work myself  Much of the bad blood between the clubs is down to Hudgell, and his fc hatred, but perhaps he now realises it is working against him? A strong hull COULD be a dominant force in super league,so let's all hope this is the start.

Never mind the bollox, bring on the rugby:

Hows the bad blood between the clubs effecting performances on the pitch?

Yes, I agree, I'm not sure how the junior development would work. One things for sure though, (Rovers very very recent crop of youngsters who still have a long way to go to make it apart) for the amount of people that play the game in hull and East Riding, whatever the clubs are doing at the moment isn't bringing through anything like the amount of talent that the rest of the heartlands manage.

I'd be interested to see Beverley Red's view on this as I think he's pretty active in junior clubs.

Petty arguments between the boards and generally slagging each other (does seem to have come more from Hudgell, Uncle Kath just seemed to go down an ignore route) are hardly going to endear you to sponsors and the business community. Less revenue means less money for players and junior development equals worse performance. Very simplified that, I admit.

Interesting that from a quick glance over on the Hull board the opinion seems to be largely against this where as here it seems to be being cautiously welcomed.
