Been impressed every time ive seen him on a Thurs evening game

Indeed hope he does not keen on the Video Ref though, the disallowed Swinton try for obstruction was a tad harsh.

Very poor decision that from a senior official. It was clear the runner had not obstructed anyone and had ran through. Had the ref given it fair enough a split second decision but a video ref giving it is just not on. I have seen worse obstructions go to the video ref and the try be given so how that one wasn't is beyond a joke. Saying that Ian Smith has always given dodgy calls especially since hanging up his whistle.

Yeah thats what we thought he was just a dummy runner, Joseph did not run behind him until the defenders had passed him, if that was obstruction then the majority of superleague tries using dummy runners would get called back.

He is a good ref, and has Touch Judged Super League, including the derby at the KC this season. He is one of a few good championship refs.
