Post subject:  Newcastle Knights want Newton!
In todays Daily Express theres a paragraph at the end of the small RL section they have, stating Newcastle Knights are interested in taking Clint Newton and Danny Buderus back there for next year. Anyone heard anything? Personally doubt he would go, as a lot of things were said in both directions when he left there for Melbourne, and he appears happy here. But then you wonder if he has representetive ambitions, would he be tempted back to Aus.

Tinkler did say he wants to bring the local lads back but I presumed he meant Idris, Ennis and Snowden.

Newcastle are cashed up and now have the best coach in the world. If they offered him a chance to go it would be very hard to turn down.The issues he had where with previous owners/management. Could be a way for rovers to get a fee for his contract though.

Aussie clubs don't do transfer fees. If he went back (and if an offer was there, I'm sure it would be tempting) I would thank him for 4 years of excellent rugby, 1 poor hair day and a succession of great Hull-baiting interviews!

He said he always planned to be a one club man. Therefore I'd say if they made a move, he would be very tempted to go back.

Is his dad still on the board at Newcastle, i know he used to have lot of influence if not directly on the board.

Wouldn't be much relevance now, Bennetts the coach, every signing will be his.

If we lost Newton, we might aswell pack up and go home now.

His absence has been even more noticeable than that of Dobson.
