HULL KR: Galea and Vella on course for new deals, says Morgan

http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/kr/hullkr/HULL-KR-Galea-Vella-course-new-deals-says-Morgan/article-3503399-detail/article.html
I would offer
Mat Cook
Ben Cockayne a new contract. Fisher is a good player but we need a better hooker next year. Briscoe, Netherton and Colbon I would let go even if we did not sign any new players. The young kids need to be put in now and use the next 3 years to build again.

Please don't C&P chunks of articles, PP. A line and link is fine. MR

Galea definitely needs signing up for next year if he wants to continue playing, he is awesome. Doesn't the quota get reduced every year? If so one of our Aussies will have to go.

have to disagree with you, i don`t think charlie should get a new contract...
i understand that he always gives 100% when on the pitch, but all his baggage in the last year or so has really damaged his credentials ...
and i feel its time the club let him move on..
.
a lot of rovers fans will maybe disagree with this, but it is my opinion.
.
as for galea its a no brainer, deffo needs to be kept for at least 1 more year....

I suppose it is that time of year when the club have to look at these things. It depends on who is available from elsewhere, what happens with Mason and a few other things. In a few weeks things'll be clearer - for now the only contract I'd want sorting immediately is Taylor.

Any suggestions of players who might be available, who you'd want to see come in?
Ainscough, Tommy Lee and Mariano might be realistic, if hardly spectacular targets.

It stays where it is now - but the exempt players will mostly be retiring over the next handful of years.

As good as Galea has been for the club I would not be offering another year for him or Vella either.

How many more Marianos are we going to let go to keep players who are, while still good, beyond their best. Look forward, build a team for the next 5 years not one to, maybe, scrape into the playoffs again (if we're lucky) next season.

My thoughts exactly, asuming we get a further three years it is time to rebuild a team for the next decade. It may well be that Galea or Vella gets an extra year but it is time to take a look at the squad even at the expense of any chance of silver wear in the next couple of years.

I would be very dissapointed if Galea and Vella were retained. Morgan would lose all credibility as far as I'm concerned.

With Green, Mason, Dobson, Clinton and Webster all contracted could you lose Galea, Vella and Fisher and replace them with UK players?

We could and ultimately we'll have to. We now seem to be producing our own which'll help. Competition will be more intense for decent fed-trained players as the exemptions run out - and if Widnes spend up to the cap. Plus the NRL is getting bigger and richer.

Galea, Vella and Fisher will be no more difficult to replace than British veteran players of equivalent quality - Rovers won't be especially badly effected by the change in climate. Clinton has an option for next year and Mason's situation is unclear, so it is difficult to predict what'll happen.
