I think What Morgan actually meant was let's make it a fortress to enable the away sides to WIN so I think it worked out well :D

At least they seem to have the moat in position.

Never fully understood it when coaches in all sports mention making their grounds a fortress in terms of noise e.t.c, it always suggests to me that they want a wall of noise to 'disrupt' the opposition as a way of hiding the product that's on the pitch.. ala Stoke City.

Considering it was only the first game of the season, it seems these rather smug condemnations of FC fans were a bit, er, misplaced.

Bobbin' Along wrote:they stopped referring to a mass exodus as the "Wigan Walk" and replaced it with the "Airlie Departure".

Glad at least you stayed to applaud them off, Bobbins. Oh, hang on..

dum-dum wrote:How must the team feel applauding an empty stand already dejected from the loss. They'll have to get used to it though if they process the much anticipated Airlie bird season ticket.

A bit flat, I'd think. :NAUGHTY:

What on earth are you on about? Unless you were there you wouldn't know, The 'few hundred' that left early didn't get out of the ground any faster because of a scary deep puddle at the gates, I would say pretty much the 8000 attendance were still within the boundary of NCP and within eyesight of the players come full time.

It was no way on a par with anything witnessed of the FC fans.
