Steve Renouf and Trent Barrett at Wigan Bradley Clyde at Leeds (and the hooker whose there now but i cant think of his name) O'Meley and Fitzgibbon at Hull Steve Menzies at Bradford Matt King and Andrew Johns at Wolves Vella at Rovers

We were a pub team I coached for a long time and we won 95% of games because winning is a mental state driven by a desire to CRUSH an opposition. Did FC look as though they wanted to Crush Wigan and strangle them until they screamed ? NO RL is a tough tough game and Maylord She-dong you have no clue In fact don't ever ever reply to any of my posts again

no i dont mean players who have come over here and done well, i mean established top big name players when they came here, none of the above are S.O.O or internationals.

Dean Treister at Hull was a very good signing for them. As was Jason Smith who undoubtedly made his mark on the game in this country.
For publicity Andrew Johns was terrific for Warrington but on the pitch he wasn't exactly at the top of his game and only actually played a handful of games for them.
Some of the big names you have originally mentioned have indeed been big names but haven't produced big games here as much as they did down under.
For eye catching performances you'd have to say Galea and Newton have been our best overseas signings in many years but for trustworthy solid performances Vella deffinately deserves a mention.
Signing quality Australians is one thing but I think when you look at the success we've had with people like James Webster and Michael Dobson who haven't exactly been the greatest NRL stars you have to wonder if big money could be better spent.

Good signing, but I think Galea has been our best forward so far, with Dobbo the best player.

He's talking about their stature in the game. No doubt Newton/Galea have performed well at Hull KR however in terms of stature in the game they're no where near to Vella.
Berrigan would be another, when he left Aus he was playing SoO and had also been capped a few times. Matt Sing is another in recent seasons who has been big in stature in the Aus game.

Matt Orford at Bradford.
Ah yes the Matt Orford with all those SoO and International caps

He was widely seen as one of the best scrum halves in the league, twice captained a team to the NRL grand final and won the Dally M. There are other forms of prestige than origin and international caps.
