Apparently the gym at Hull prison is "state of the art".

Would be nice if the goverment would be as generous to give the opportunity for some of the hard pressed. amateur clubs within the area to use these facilities especially with the present appalling weather. We the tax payer fund these facilities so it would nice to see clubs, who are struggling in the present economic climate, be allowed to utilise the gyms and training area's.

Our professional set ups have the finances to ensure their players have good indoor and outdoor facilities so why not allow these amateur clubs and players to receive a handout from the council / goverment coffers.

Some of the amatuer clubs I have been involverd with over the years would have had half the team benefitting from the prison gym at different times

In his time at Hull, Billy Mallo regularly took his sides into the prison to make use of the facilities. I know a funny story about a Hull player knocking himself out running into a wall whilst trying to avoid an in-mate but i wouldnt want to embarrass him on here.

Billy Mallinson was an Ex prison officer being a gym officer which is where his connection with Hull Prison was. A couple of current officers are involved currently in the conditioning of both teams whether that be at 1st team level or academy level. To say the facilities are state of the art is bemusing. The main sports hall is split in half one half is filled with aerorobic machines like runners and rowers and exercise bikes as the sports centre isn't massive and has no room for an aerobics room. The sports hall also spent alot of time out of action due to a leaking roof and the small all weather pitch isn't so all weather anymore and needs constant running repairs. Not that I've used the prison gym for a while last time i was there i reckon they must have had a buffet on
