With Big Willie coming in and a new half back to take some of the load off Dobbo, plus some decent younger players coming through, on top of our first play off win, what should we be expecting or hoping for next season?

id like a top 6 finish, and hopefully do a lot better in the cup too. a bit more creativity in our play and a lot more off loads would be nice, I dont think we have enough quality depth in the squad just yet to challenge for the cup or title but its coming.

Top 6 would me awesome. With another half coming in & Murrel back to 13, Wattsy back into the pack with Mason giving us some extra beef then there is no reason why we can force our way into the top 6. Willie will bring more offloads to our game and the other lads in the pack will also hopefully follow suit.
Biggest plus is that it's looking very likely that we'll have a very settled squad so the combinations will come alot easier. Certainly looking forward to 2011.

I think we've now proved that we're in the second tier of SL teams - the pretenders rather than the obvious contenders. Can we take that extra, final step next year? I think we can take encouragement from how well we did without our 6 (Cooke) and 12 (Walker) and that we have new signings to fill those roles. My concern is that I think we are already cohesive and hard working, so I don't think we can get more than an extra few % points on being more than the sum of our parts - and if we lose that then you only have to look at those 2 defeats against Saints to see what can happen!
I think we can expect the play-offs and a couple of points can easily be the difference between 2/3 places on the ladder. The cup will probably remain our best shot at silverware.
But if Willie Mason can do what Puletua does for Saints, then it gives us a whole new dimension...

well i for one believe we need another decent centre, so that there is competition for the places, its also a position where we have been exposed on many occasions over the last couple of years.
walker/webster have become a tad injury prone, welham jumps out of the line too often, and we have also used charlie there also. And with walker also gone now that leaves us still very lightweight for a bit of quality in the centres.
so i would say that a decent centre to push , welham, ratu and webster for their places can only be good for the team.

so i feel that until we address our flanks that we will pretty much stay the same as it is right now.
while i do agree that mason should give us a bit more umph in the middle and green will take some flak away from dobbo i still feel we will be still exposed on the flanks a bit.... i hope i`m wrong.
thoughts.

Doesn't Matt Cook play centre as well as 2nd row?

Another season of continuing improvement both on and off the field.

The one improvement we need more than anything is a stronger defence, then you can start thinking about trophies. As in most sports strong defence wins championships.

We've obviously got to be aiming for a home play off tie next season and hopefully to get to the final 4. Either that or a cup win and we can say we've seen improvement again

Top 6 is a must and I think we need to be looking at making the final 4 of play offs, we've had 2 seasons of going out at the 2nd round stage and to show improvement a stage further is required.

A good cup run would be nice aswell.
