Interesting article in todays Rugby League Express about the clash between Long and Dobson in the latest derby. Whilst Dobson will gracing Super League (or the NRL) for many seasons to come it appears the concensus is that the legend which is Long is rapidly diminishing.

IMO the signing of Dobson was probably Rovers best overseas signing ever.

Must agree.

He is a pleasure to have at the team. Yes, he has had his off days as do everyone, but more often that not he does the business. He can kick a goal or two as well.

A masterstroke signing by Morgan/Hudgell.

Fantastic player and has potential to be the best overseas player - but he'll need to keep it up for a few seasons if he is to be compared with Miller, Broadhurst and Prohm.

Sadly yes :D

Dobbo has a long way to go to achieve all that Long has during his career. Dobson does not even have International honours and I doubt he ever will, let alone 3 Lance Trophy awards etc etc.

As good as Long was I doubt he would have got international caps for Aus.

Langer, Stewart, Johns to name just a few. Maybe a few of these are a bit early but will have still been playing when Long started out.

Yes a little early, he may or may not have done I suppose we would never know, knowing Longy he would have probably been noticed (one way or another  )

So far being a bit disappointing for us (due to injury etc) but I consider him possibly the best h/b to date this country has produced.

As no doubt Dobson will when he reaches Long`s age.
You do have a good player in Dobson.
Long will always be a great player in my eyes.
