One mile across Lake Windermere. My youngset sister’s doing this next weekend to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research.

We lost our Dad to pancreatic cancer in December 2008.

Pancreatic cancer has one of the lowest survival rates of all cancers. This hasn’t improved in over 40 years, despite the huge strides medical science has taken in that time. The average life expectancy after diagnosis is around 13 weeks.

Our Dad passed away peacefully just 2 weeks after being diagnosed. He was only 61. He’d been watching Rovers for over 45 years & we’d been going together for 34 years. We miss him so much.

I’m really proud of my sister for doing this. Research is desperately needed, so if anyone out there would like to sponsor her it would be massively appreciated.

An unexpected twist…this weekends Great North Swim has been postponed on safety grounds due to the level of blue-green algae in the water :EH: which the H & S types have deemed to be a bad thing.

An alternative date may be on the cards, we’ll find out more next week.
