Quote from Neil Hudgell:

"We are very aware that one of the major problems we have with hosting events like the ex-players' reunion is the facilities at the stadium.

"However, I am hopeful that we could have some very positive news for everyone within the next few weeks."

Pretty clear hint that things are moving forward. He does only say 'hopeful' and the club have been careful not to raise expectations. Still, fingers crossed.

Thats exactly what i was thinking when I read it earlier.

Is he alluding to the east stand extension, new north stand or something else?

Don't want to get too carried away. However the East stand extension wouldn't really be news and wouldn't offer massively improved facilities for functions, I'd assume. The obvious candidate then is the North. Guess we'll find out shortly.

Given that the Chairman was talking about the development in terms of hosting events such as the ex-players get together i am inclined to think we are more likely to see a semi-permanent structure being built to house restaurant and bar facilities than a new stand being built in the short term.

I really hope not, in my mind I see something similar to the stand at Belle Vue.

I'm only speculating but i do know that Rovers have looked into it in the past but the cost was prohibitive and the council wouldnt give us a licence to sell alcholol in it. I dont think it would be anywhere near to the scale as the building at Wakey but then again if it were to generate money for Rovers who cares?

Not sure about that, the north stand will include new bars, restaurant, club shop, function rooms etc, so I doubt the club will waste valuable funds on any temporary structures in the mean time.

If we didn't already have restaurant and bar facilities, than i could see your point, but we do.
