Seeing as Rovers official website still pitifully fails to give any information on Reserve and Academy players, can anybody on here help? Having watched the Under 20's Derby on Saturday, by far the most eyecatching player on view (for both sides) was Rovers' giant prop James Green. For such a big man, he displayed amazing speed to score from halfway and he was strong and agressive throughout with a couple of offloads too. What really impressed me about him was his eagerness to take in the first drive in the immediate aftermath of the vicious, full-scale brawl in the second-half (always the sign of a player with 'heart'). And he scattered a few FC players then too! So, what does anyone know about him? Has he always been an outstanding prospect, or is he a late-bloomer? Or was he just having a good day on Saturday. Other than Green and Scott Taylor (and possibly Dominic Dee), I didn't see too much first-team potential in the Rovers Under 20's, though I thought there looked some outstanding talent in the Under 18's. |

Agree about the under 18's, have several special players in there. Don't know much about Green, but him and Moore pretty much bossed most other teams front rows for the last couple of years at under 18 level. |

Both very good prospects ....both improving week on week and both have the size and the potential if the keep there current rate of development up to be first teamers. I would also add the name of Jordon Cox to these 2 as well as maybe a future star .....all are front row forwards with lots of size. If you also presume we can keep hold of Watts we currently have 4 six ft 4 and over in height props on our books all under the age of 20. (i believe Cox is only 16) |

I think ive mentioned James Green on here before. An absolute giant of a teenager who runs his weight every time he hits the ball up. To be honest i think both he and Dom Dee are better players now than Rich Beaument despite him being 3 or 4 years older. I didnt realise till the weekend that Jordan Cox was still an under 18s player. He is another giant with masses of potential. As a previous poster has stated there are several massive prospects in the under 18s with the likes of Sheriff, Salter, Bell, Ollett, Cox and Peterson standing out. |

Was Jordan Cox the tall, rangy number 11 in the under 18's? If so, he too looked an outstanding prospect along with the number 6 Kristian Bell who I thought outshone every other halfback on the day (including anything in the Under 20's). Louis Sherriff has definitely got Super League potential too, though an extra few inches in height wouldn't go amiss. These would be my Naps to make it from the Under 18's but, alongside Scott Taylor, surely the next 'cab off the rank' at first team level is James Green? Why is it, very little is written or posted about Rovers' youth players compared to Hull FC's when, Reece Lynn apart, I think there is definitely more overall talent in Rovers' ranks? |
