Back to winning ways! some will say controversially, but im solely going to focus on rovers performance tonight and the difference from the last couple of weeks. For a start, we showed real enthusiasm especially when running with the ball. We ran hard, made metres upfield and got a quick play the ball consistently for the first time this season. In defence, we looked shaky in the first 20 and still not 100% convincing for the duration, however an improved effort from previous 2 weeks. Dobson played really well but he was complimented by I'anson perfectly, as we actually had 2 half backs looking to do something with the ball rather than one just running with no passing side to their game (webster). Also, the kicking game was much improved and this was one of the key things which enabled us to get field position in the game. Was good to see briscoe back, apart from spilling one high ball he had a decent game. Clinton looked good for a first run out as well, especially in the first half i thought he made a lot of tackles and did a lot of work, and he will only get better with more matches under his belt. Big well done to young Liam Watts as well, really stood up and gave a great display, good to see a British youngster having an impact. Finally, does anyone know why Colbon was left out? was one of the few who really put in a good shift last week. How do fellow robins fans feel now then, 4 games and 2 wins, what would you have been expecting before the season? I personally would have hoped for 3 wins, but wigan and cas away, with Hudds at home are pretty tough games. The attitude with the players seemed better tonight and i hope we can build on this, hopefully putting another win on the board next week |

do i think Cooke will get in next week? No idea. The rumours are flying left right and centre and i havent a clue whats happening with him. I personally would stick with I'anson at 6, but whether JM wants to throw him back in at 13 or on the bench i dont know. Thats if hes selected or even at the club by next week of course. |

i think the way we defend out wide is catching us out a bit this season. a lot of teams have taken note how the centre shoots out of the line to make a 1 on 1 tackle. if the tackle is missed or the ball is shipped out we are vunerable out wide, hence the ainscough hatrick. need to read the play a little better and slide the defence accross. 2 points in the bag, good win away from home. happy! |

MOM should have been out of Watts, Cockayne and I'Anson. Dobson got Sky mom, he had a decent game, but for me it should have been Watts, he was superb. Honourable mentions to two recently maligned players Scott Murrell and Mick Vella. I thought was outstanding at hooker tonight and Mick carried the ball forward with vigour, and something he has been criticised for is not been a leader, it was interesting to see him reading the riot act to the team before the game, something we dont often get an insight to. (Eddie loves Mick it seems aswell.) |

Well done to you guys tonight, was a game that could have gone either way, it was just a shame the manner in which it went the way it did. |

Thought Watts did really well, another stone on him and he'll be a monster. |

Cockayne plays like a puppy chasing a ball, all enthusiasm but no control and discipline. Often he left his position on the wing whilst in defence leaving the big gaps which gave a winger of Ainscough's ability the room to score. Having said that i'd still have in on the team sheet for the lift he can give the team and crowd, but where too play him is another question. He'll probably be banned next week anyway for the grapple tackle (he's got previous for that). Big credit as too go to Jason Netherton, he tightens up the defence when on and is taking the ball up well. Personally i would start with in the second row instead of Clint Newton who would be more effective coming off the bench, where his dynamic running would be more effective, he always looks like he needs a breather after 30 mins away. |
