Difficult to draw any positives from tonight, awful performances from most of the squad. Ben Fisher being the only one for me that wasn't completely terrible although he managed to butter fingers one at the ptb. Wigan did what they needed to do and beat us soundly in the tackle, kicking game and always looked likely to score through being very lively with ball in hand. At one point I feared a fifty point drubbing. Our umbrella defence was completely uncoordinated leaving the wings completely exposed, although we also managed to get broken up the middle just to even it up a bit! Oh well, only Huddersfield up next! |

I thought Liam Colbon played well for you tonight. He pushed forward hard and made some good yards which isn't bad for a winger. Clint Newton looked the most dangerous player with ball in hand and made some neat passes but Wigan did exceptionally well defensively IMO. |

extremely frustrating to watch. We never looked like scoring when we had the ball, very basic, boring rugby which can sometimes be effective, however with a poor kicking game and little ground gained by our forwards this was never going to work. Very little imagination which was disappointing as it was clear we were never going to beat them in the middle (clints break the exception) and their pack won the tackle or 'wrestle', never allowing us a quick play the ball. To be fair, wigan played well and didnt make that many errors in costly positions, most of our sets were started deep in our own half where we struggled to get out from. Their attack was good and they looked dangerous whenever it went wide, where there was some shocking reads and generally poor defending from our boys. I think we looked flat in everything we did, the forwards not running with real intent and the passing and play the ball extremely slow. We never lifted the intensity or did anything different, even when we were well behind on the scoreboard, although i dont want to take anything away from wigan who were very good. Hope briscoe recovers asap and apparently cooke has done his wrist again? |

That was perhaps the most worrying part, we lacked passion and grit, our line speed (more like slouch) was none existent and at times from acting half we were literally picking the ball up and then having a look round to see which way to aimlessly wang it next. Had a text on the way back to say that Briscoe has done his knee ligaments and will be out for four to six weeks. Bad times. Oh feck it, I'm off for another beer and a fag! |

LIke I said before, last season Sl was the poorest standard for a while. I think that this season will provide true reflection. I think that both Fc and rovers will be equal. 5th to 8th. |

Fish and Jason Netherton were excellent in a beaten side....special mentions for Clint and Liam Watts....rest were ordinary , £100,000 per year scrum halves should never chicken out...... And refer my previous posts re Welham...the worst first division first team centre i have ever seen at the club in 35 years..... |
