To get all this into context are we any worse off going into this year than we were last year, Outs:- Fozzard – had a disappointing year and did nothing any other prop at our team could have done. Aizue – Hardly played last year due to one reason or another Fitzhenry – Had a good year but was never world class Gene – Again never had much game time and was dodgy to say the least when he did. All our ins are unproven but have potential, given game time I believe they could all do as good a job as the above if not better. Add Watts to this if he gets brought on correctly and if Scott Taylor can carry on where he left off last season. All in all we have a similar squad strength as last term out which if I remember correctly finished 4th. I think the main gripe our fans have is due to a very rare and unusual phenomenon that has occurred in our city. A team that has been nothing short of shocking and in all essence the worst SL club barring the promoted teams for the last two years running, has bought some players, hyped up these players to be something that they’re not (or certainly not anymore) and instilled a delusional sense of belief in to the blind following. So much so that the said followers have forgotten how appalling they have been, how disenchanted they have been for as long as they can remember and made them think that they will overnight drink the elixir of life and be world champs (or something of the like). Come mid May (I say mid May cos the poorer teams tend to do better early in the fixture list) when they have woken up and seen the emperor is fully naked, I’m sure normal proceedings will have resumed and they will be more bothered about sit ins and banners and we can get on supporting our club and any decision they may make…. |

Have you paid the required £60 to make those kinds of comments? |

You'd better hold on to your Burberry caps, you're in for a lightning start to the season! |

I think your squad is a hell of a lot weaker, especially up front where it matters. I'd worry about your squad rather than worrying about us. It was evident though from Hudge's q&a's yesterday that lots of rovers fans seemed overly obsessed with us and our players. |

posted on which teams board.. In all honesty that post was slightly tongue in cheek but the sentiment was honest. The discontentment that seems to be around our club seems to be soley perpatrated by a number of Hull fans that seem to be tarring us with the same brush as their team, ie. In need of a rebuild. When in fact we are in a reasonably strong (ish) position, on the back of a good season, 4 2009 dream team players, arguably the best 2nd row in SL and a generally strong in most positions. Granted our front row isn’t the best and could do with strengthening, especially as we have lost fozz and Makka, although we were without Vella for the vast majority of the first half of last year and faired quite well so injuries aside we are reasonable in that department. I fully agree with Hudgell and Morgan, strengthening is needed but not at any cost and with any player, if the right man is there then great, if he isn't we don;t want a make weight just for the sake of fan placating. I'm sure this year will be an interesting one but aren't they all... |
