Being a coach manager of a Rugby League team is the same as football, ice hockey or any other sport, if you deliver than you are in a job for life.

Take Peter Taylor for example(used to manage hull city) he was a god up in Hull took them up 2 divisions then left, as a god the only mananger to take City to 2 succesive promotions, he was last week sacked by Wycombe!!
Morgan is a legend in East Hull at the moment, but if we start next season slow and dont win who we should then its bye bye Justin. Cruel world is sports managment. You can go from hero to zero in weeks.

As for British coaches i feel we are very weak. John Kear is (i.m.o) the best we have and thats about it, we must push our ex-players into coaching instead of media, Brian Carney speaks so much sense when he`s on so he must have the knowledge to make it as a manager

Having signed a new deal and having the working relationship he does with the chairman and board Morgan is going nowhere.
Next season is about sustainibility and sensible fans will except that finishing in the 8 will be acceptable next term and continued progression of the academy.

Ah. But how many of those have you got?

All the newbies are used to this year's unexpected over-achievement. Rovers have set an unrealistic precedent this year and are still only dragging in 8000. If you find your true level at the beginning of next year I don't think it will be long before the indignant shrieking starts. After all, a fair proportion of your bandwaggoners are City fans, too

You reckon? After all the bragging on here about top 4 club and progressing further next season? Warrington will be stronger next year, but not sure who else will TBH. Wigan may be, depending on the new coach.

I'd like to see us go away from this trend of progression. Instead of working on the 'he was a good player therefore he must be a good manager' mentaliity I'd like to see someone schooled to become the next manager. Someone who understands the game but has not necessarily played at the highest level. Train them in both the game but equally in the management side of the business. How to deal with people, how to manage difficult situations, conflict and nurturing talent.

If theres one thing we can learn from football, and its something I think even football hasn't learned from itself yet, then it is that the best players don;t make the best manager. Look at Mourinho or Wenger, 2 of the most successful coaches in the game, neither played at top grade but both trained well to become managers, mourinho sat alongside the best and studied the techniques and the psychology of management.

It may take years to do this but for me it must be better than promoting a bloke who generally isn't the brightest button in the sewing box just cos he could run a ball in hard..

You quite rightly leave your own club out of post putting forward teams who you reckon will be stronger next year then Mrs B. :D

1. Who said we unexpectedly over-acheived?
2. What is our "true level"?
3. As you painfully discovered in 2009, where you are at the beginning of the year is no indication of the year end!
4. Please can you give us some "indignant shrieking" lessons?

In fairness i didnt expect a Top 4 finish in 2009 so they were ahead of schedule.
Our true level is that we are now a play off team.
