What a transformation...

From a poor squad player in the Super League to now in the Storm 17 for Sundays NRL Grand Final, and alot of people over here are tipping him to become a stand out player next season!!

Im currently on a 1 year trip to Aus playing for a side on the Central Coast of NSW and Tandy played for the Local Rep side the Central Coast Storm who are Melbourne Storms feeder team aswell, and wasnt doing that well, but after 7 straight games in the Storm pack hes now in the final 17 for the game!!

Pretty good achievement from a player so poor back home!

To be fair after a slow start with us he started to look the part and was a shame we lost him when he left.

Disagree about a poor squad player. After a slow start due to fitness at Rovers he showed what a very good player he is and if it hadn't been for the quota system would have stayed at Craven Park.

Why pick up the Tandy story half way through? Before hitting the top tier of the British game, Ryan had spells with Whitehaven (twice), Barrow, Widnes (played against us in the 2006 GF) and Donny. That makes his rise even more of a story.

IIRC correctly we wanted (and tried) to keep him but he wanted to go back to oz.

He had experience in the NRL first grade with South Sydney and St.George-Illawarra before signing for Whitehaven. In fact I believe he was part of Souths first team squad when Haven signed him, so its not like he came over here with no pedigree and went back to Australia a complete unknown before miraculously making the Melbourne side in fairytale fashion.
He also played in first grade for Wests Tigers in 2008.
He's always been a good player, just never got a sustained run of first team rugby for some reason.

Ryan Tandy was not a poor squad player in Super League he was far better than that.

If our quota had not been full I reckon he would have been offered a deal at Rovers.

But I agree his rise to a NRL Grand Final is remarkable. Good luck to him.

Always rated him and he did a good job at Rovers.
Bit of a mare off the field though :D
